Colin Young became an antique expert in 1986. He joined Lyall & Co at The Bourne Auction Rooms as an assistant manager.
He left the auction room to join Golding’s in 1989. Initially, he served as saleroom manager at age 21 before he was promoted to the role of Principal Auctioneer & Valuer in 1994.
Young became the associate member of the National Association Valuers & Auctioneers and qualified as an auctioneer in 1991. He became a Fellow the following year.
He won the coveted title of ISVA Young Auctioneer of the Year in 1996.
He is also a member of The Society of Fine Art Auctioneers as a Partner Person. In 2003, he received the RCIS/Antiques Trade Gazette Prize for Professional Assessment.
