Ayman al-Zawahiri Earnings & Wealth As al-Qaeda Leader

The FBI had listed Ayman al-Zawahiri as a Most Wanted Terrorist, with a $25 million reward for his capture. Ayman was designated as an al-Qaeda member by the UN’s Al-Qaida Sanctions Committee in 1999.

He must have earned millions of dollars as the leader of the terrorist organization al-Qaeda, as leading such an organization is expensive.

He formally incorporated the Egyptian Islamic Jihad into al-Qaeda in 1998. Ayman has been a senior member of the group’s shura council since its inception. He was frequently described as Osama bin Laden’s “lieutenant,” though bin Laden’s chosen biographer referred to him as the “real brains” of al-Qaeda.

On February 23, 1998, Ayman and Osama bin Laden issued a joint fatwa under the title “World Islamic Front Against Jews and Crusaders.”

The fatwa is thought to have been issued by Ayman rather than bin Laden. On June 24, 1998, Bin Laden and Ayman called an al-Qaeda congress.
