On Saturday, Austin Majors passed away in Los Angeles. During the 1990s and the beginning of the 2000s, he was a well-known child actor best remembered for his seven-season role as the young son of Dennis Franz’s Detective Andy Sipowicz on the NYPD Blue television series. He was 27.

In a statement given to TMZ, Austin’s family, which also includes his younger sister, the former child actress Kali Majors, lauded him as “a gorgeous, artistic, intellectual, and loving human being.”
Austin loved and appreciated his acting career. He was very proud of it. He was an eager Eagle Scout and the salutatorian of his high school class. He graduated from the USC School of Cinematic Arts with a preference for producing music and directing.
The statement reads, “Kali, Austin’s younger sister, says her greatest memories with him were growing up on set, assisting at events with Kids With a Cause, and going on backpacking excursions together. Because Austin was the kind of son, brother, grandchild, and nephew who made us proud, we shall always miss him.
