Ashlee Nicole Baracy (born April 22, 1985) is a beauty pageant winner from the United States. She was crowned Miss Michigan 2008 and placed in the top ten in the Miss America 2009 pageant, which took place on January 24, 2009.
She was also the first runner-up for the Quality of Life Award, which she received in 2012. “Breast Cancer Awareness and Education” was the theme of Baracy’s campaign. Baracy has been caring for her mother, who has been a five-year breast cancer survivor, since she was a child.
This motivated her to take on the task of creating an online support network, which went live in 2007. She is the creator of BCDaughters.com, a worldwide Web site that provides a forum for breast cancer survivors to express their experiences.
The American Cancer Society has enlisted her assistance in fundraising activities, and she has also served as a legislative ambassador, lobbying in Washington, DC, for cancer research initiatives. Jazz dance was Baracy’s special skill in the tournament.
John Glenn High School is where Baracy was born and raised. She is now a resident of Westland, Michigan, where she received her high school diploma.
She is now enrolled as a student at the University of Michigan. She claims that she is paying for her studies with the money she has earned from prior pageant victories.
Former Miss Michigan Junior Miss 2003, Baracy was also a Top Ten Finalist and Overall Fitness Winner at America’s Junior Miss 2003, a first runner-up at National Sweetheart 2007, a winner of the Miss Michigan Preliminary Swimsuit Award in 2008, and a recipient of the Miss America Academic Scholarship in 2008.
More recently, she acted as the spokeswoman for the city of Westland’s television advertising campaign, which was shown throughout the United Kingdom. For the time being, Baracy works as a morning traffic reporter for WDIV-TV Channel 4 in Detroit.
