He was competing in the event, under the Italian flag. This didn’t change his gesture during yesterday’s FIA Karting European Championship race in Portimao when he seemed to give a Nazi salute.

“The FIA confirms it has launched an immediate investigation into Artyom’s unacceptable conduct that occurred during the OK category podium ceremony at the Kartodromo Internacional do Algarve in Portugal during Round 1 of the 2022 FIA Karting European Championship,” as per Monday statement.
Artyom however, denied the Nazi salute, and instead, he said he celebrated his victory with his family and friends who were standing opposed to the podium.
The FIA, the world governing body of motorsport, said it was investigating the event, which was widely broadcast and slammed on social media.
