Dumas got elected as the Grand Chief of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs in July 2017. He got re-elected as the Grand Chief in July 2021, where he won 38 out of the 57 votes. The most powerful indigenous leader in the province got accused of sexual assault.
On Monday, the executive council of chiefs got notified about the allegations. The victim revealed that she got subjected to gender-based violence and her experience of se*ual misconduct and harassment created an unsafe work environment.

Arlen Dumas is accused of sexual assault by a woman who works in a senior leadership position at the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs. A formal criminal complaint got filed in the Winnipeg Police Service sex crimes unit.
The accuser sent an official email to AMC’s executive council of chiefs on Monday. The organization was formally notified of the sexual assault allegation. The email reads the assembly has an unsafe and unhealthy work environment.
It also claims that the accuser got subjected to se*xual harassment, se*ualized violence, and harassment by the Grand Chief. She also added that there should be urgency to the issue as other women at AMC might also be experiencing the same thing.
She confirmed that her experience as a se*ual assault and the formal complaint has already been filed. The victim is willing to work with AMC’s executive council of chiefs and human resources in the case if required, reports Winnipeg Free Press.
What Is Arlen Dumas Victim Name?
Arlen Dumas’ alleged victim’s name has not been revealed due to the extremity and nature of the case. On Thursday, Police spokeswoman Const. Dani McKinnon stated that a complaint was received, and the incident number got initiated.
The victim revealed that she felt harassed by Arlen via phone, virtually, and in-person, since her second day at AMC. The police are yet to disclose information and details bout the case, allegation, accuser, and the accused.
Arlen Dumas Charges Revealed
Arlen Dumas’ charges will be revealed after an arrest is made. The Grand Chief is yet to comment on the sexual assault allegations.
The chief of staff at the AMC, Natalie Ballentyne, issued a statement, stating that Arlen has not received any such information and cannot respond to the issue.
In order to respond to the sexual assault allegation, the Assembly’s executive council of chiefs is set to hold an emergency meeting on Friday.
