They became popularly known as Alex & Sierra , the indie pop duo that rose to prominence after outstandingly winning the American music competition, The X Factor USA in 2013. Sierra Deaton and Alex Kinsey happened to be the first musical group of all time , who emerged as the winners of the show. The win landed them a $1 million deal with record giant Sony. Additionally, two of the songs they used for the contest broke records by becoming the first to emerge from The x Factor to top the US iTunes charts.

Sierra Deaton and Alex Kinsey’s music group career officially began in 2013, shortly after graduating from the University of Central Florida. In 2014, shortly after winning The X Factor show, Alex & Sierra released their debut album, It’s About Us with their debut and lead single “ Scarecrow ”, and promotional singles “ Little Do You Know?” ”And” J Children only. “
In mid-2015, Sierra Deaton and her partner AlexKinsey were abruptly dropped from their record label, prompting them to start their own independent label, The A&S Partnership. Earlier in the year they toured major US cities with The Good & A Girl Tour alongside Andy Grammer and Paradise Fears.
In 2016, the duo released an extended play titled As Seen on TV . The EP featured her X Factor songs alongside other new tracks. Before Alex & Sierra released their EP, she was featured on the track “We Were Young” from Gareth Emery’s 2016 album. 100 reasons to live . They also released their own version of Britney Spears’ “Toxic” on Yahoo! music in the same year.

Sierra Deaton and Alex Kinsey weren’t just musical partners, but they were lovers too. The duo met on a Florida beach in 2009 while they were still high school students. They became instant friends and started dating. The duo also started making music together as they had similar career interests. They then formed the self-titled music group Alex & Sierra in 2013, performing and releasing songs.

Unfortunately on September 1st, 2017, Alex &Sierra announced to the public via their Twitter account that they have ceased to be a music group and a couple. This was after about 8 long years of dating and working together!
After the lengthy tweet, many things had changed over the years, leading to them ending their romantic relationship sometime in 2016. However, they continued to remain friends because they wanted to keep Alex & Sierra alive. However, their continued collaboration has emotionally drained them and negatively impacted their music production. And so, a year later, they decided to end it all and go their own way.
Sierra later released a single all by himself titled ” Don’t Hurt “. Her name is now Essy. Alex joined the music band, BoTalks consisted of him and Swedish musician Johan Lindbrandt.
The bottom line of the whole story is that Sierra Deaton and Alex Kinsey didn’t get married. They are also no longer in a relationship and they are no longer friends either!

Sierra is the second of two daughters born to her parents, Vu and John Deaton. She grew up in Orlando, Florida, where she attended Lake Howell High School in central Florida. After high school, Sierra went to the University of Central Florida for her bachelor’s degree.
From the beginning of her childhood, Sierra Deaton was fond of music. She began dancing at the tender age of two.
