Claire Elise Boucher, known professionally as Grimes, was born on March 17, 1988, in Vancouver, Canada. Her mother, Sandy Garossino, is a former Crown prosecutor and arts advocate while her unnamed father is a former banker who works in biotech.
Grimes has a step-brother who raps under the stage name Jay Worthy. She also has another who goes by the name, Mac Boucher.
