Aqib Talib Bio (age)

Aqib Talib was born on the 13th of February 1986 in Cleveland Ohio. Young Talib received his high school education from Lloyd V. Berkner High School in Dallas, Texas, where he was a multi-athlete who dabbled in football, baseball, and track and field. As a senior, he was named the school’s Defenseman of the Year and also received Defensive Back Honors for all first-team districts and cities.

The high school soccer star received offers of athletic scholarships from several universities but pitched his tent at the University of Kansas. He spent three successful years in Kansas (2005–2007), amassing 162 tackles, 13 interceptions, 43 passes defended, two forced fumbles and two forced recoveries in 34 career games. Talib capped his collegiate career with a stellar MVP performance as his school beat Virginia Tech to win the 2008 Rose Bowl. As a result, he was named a first-team All-American and unanimously named a first-team conference All-Big 12.

NFL career

After a successful junior season, Talib was able to decide to give up his final season of college football in favor of the NFL. He was drafted in the 2008 NFL draft and was drafted in the first round (20th overall) by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who signed him to a four-year, $14 million contract.

In his rookie season, he appeared in 15 games (two starts) and contributed 27 tackles (19 solo), 4 interceptions (32 yards) and nine passes defended. His first career interception was a pass thrown by quarterback Matt Ryan. Aqib Talib spent nearly five years with the Buccaneers, amassing 182 tackles (163 solo), 54 pass deflections and 18 total interceptions.

After five years with the Buccaneers, Talib was traded to the New England Patriots midway through the 2012 season. His year-and-a-half stint with the Patriots was fruitful both at the team level and personally. During the 2013 season, he started 13 games for the Patriots and had 40 tackles (33 singles games), two interceptions, 10 passes defended and a fumbled recovery as the Patriots made the playoffs. In recognition of his impressive individual contributions to the team, Talib was selected to his first career as a Pro Bowl and was named a second-team All-Pro by the federal league, according to the Associated Press.

In March 2014, Aqib Talib left the Patriots as a free agent and joined the Denver Broncos in a $57 million deal. There were initial concerns from some fans and analysts about the size of the crowd, but Talib put those to rest with his impressive performances. In four years with the Broncos, he started all 58 possible games and amassed a total of 183 tackles (149 solo games), 48 pass deflections, 11 interceptions (6 touchdowns), and two forced fumbles as the Broncos won Super Bowl 50. Voted to the Pro Bowl in each of his four years with the Broncos, Talib also earned his first career Associated Press All-Pro First-Team honors in2016 while with them. Aqib Talib also became the first cornerback in NFL history to set a record by defending eight tackles, one interception and three passes in a single game. He did this in his first season with the Broncos. The footballer currently plays for the LA Rams after being traded in March 2018.

Looking back at how far he’s come, it didn’t work out for him, it was a smooth ride. In the early stages of his career, Talib was involved in a series of incidents on and off the field that could easily have derailed his career. In 2015 he stabbed a player in the eye and was banned for one game. In the Super Bowl 50 championship game, he violently grabbed another player’s face mask and was fined. Also in June 2016, he shot himself in the leg and lied that someone else had shot him. Talib is now very composed and credits his wife and children for his maturity.
