Antony James Griffith was born in Shrewsbury, England, on October 28, 1986, and is a Montserrat international footballer who currently plays for League Two team Shrewsbury Town. He is known for being a strong tackling defensive midfielder, which has resulted in him having a bad disciplinary record at various points in his career. After making an impression while playing for non-league Halifax Town, he signed with Doncaster Rovers in 2005. The next season, he was loaned out to Oxford United, where he did not appear on the field throughout the 2005–06 season.
During the 2006–07 season, he was loaned out to Darlington and Stafford Rangers, before spending the 2007–08 season on loan at Halifax Town. In April 2008, he signed a professional contract with Port Vale, where he played as a first team regular in 2008–09. The following seasons, he remained a vital member of the first squad, and he was named the club’s Player of the Year in 2010 and 2011. He continued to perform well for the “Valiants,” earning a promotion to the second tier with Leyton Orient in May 2012. He returned to Port Vale on loan in March 2013, and he was instrumental in the team’s promotion from League Two in 2012–13, before committing his future to the club permanently the following summer.
