Early Life and Education
AngelsKimi is yet to reveal her birth name – she grew up on the East Coast of the US, though she hasn’t specified where she is originally from.
She is of Korean descent with her parents moving to the US right before she was born. Her parents opted for her not to learn much about their language though she grew close to her heritage. She followed Korean culture closely even as she grew up in American culture. At a young age, she developed a love and passion for video games, though she didn’t initially think it would be a career for her.
Her parents supported whatever path she wanted to take, and after matriculating from high school, she enrolled at the University of California, Irvine. She was very athletic at this point, and participated in several sports teams though not competitive enough for her to be considered for a career in professional sports.
UCI is considered one of the public schools with the best education in the US, with many labeling it as a Public Ivy which means that its educational quality is on par with that of the Ivy League. The university is a part of the larger University of California system, with campuses around the state.
Gaming Beginnings
While working on her education, AngelsKimi remained dedicated to her passion for gaming, and played a lot of the game “League of Legends” (LoL). Developed by Riot Games, LoL is a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game inspired by “Defense of the Ancients”, a mod that was created for the game “Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne”.
Since its launch in 2009, it has become one of the most popular online video games in the world, and has remained consistent with its popularity. In the game, players take on the role of summoners who select a champion from a large pool. They then team up with others to battle against another team, hoping to destroy the other team’s main structure called the Nexus.
Eventually, she began considering streaming as a way to share her love for the game, and potentially earn a consistent income. At this point, many others were already finding success through streaming, and so she created an account on Twitch, a streaming platform initially created to help gamers, though it has since expanded to include other kinds of streams as well.
Rise to Prominence
AngelsKimi experienced a quick rise to fame after she began her streaming career, as her audience enjoyed a female streamer. She was also very skilled at the game and attractive, though it became a bit difficult for her to adjust. This was because a lot of people began contacting her in-game, and as a result she started to ignore most of them as she was becoming too distracted answering questions, and couldn’t play the game.
Eventually she began expanding to other video games, including “Minecraft” which is the best-selling video game of all time.
In the game, players are given the capability to explore, craft, and build structures. The game is considered one of the most influential and greatest video games of all time. She also played “Maplestory”, an online role-playing game created by the South Korean company, Wizet, and has been in operation since 2010. She also became very interested in “Teamfight Tactics”, which is also created by Riot Games. The game was created following the popularity of the auto-battler mode, in which players draft characters to fight against each other.
YouTube Career
Eventually, AngelsKimi’s fame led her to become a partner of Twitch, which meant that she could earn more consistently from the site.
She would gain a larger share from her ads, subscriptions, and donations, while also becoming featured on the site. Wanting to have more income streams, she also began looking into creating a YouTube account, a video-sharing website and one of the most popular websites in the world, being the source for most video content. She created a gaming-focused channel that posted highlights of her streams and other related matters. Eventually, the channel turned more into a video blog (vlog) channel.
She also created a second account dedicated to Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response – ASMR, which is a niche that has become very popular on YouTube.
ASMR refers to the light euphoric sensation one feels that can be triggered by stimuli such as auditory or visual sensations. A lot of female YouTubers have found consistent pay with dedicated viewers on their ASMR content. ASMR has become a specific genre on YouTube, though there has been a lot of criticism of it as well. ASMR is a sensation that is still being studied due to the diversity of experiences people have with it.
Personal Life
AngelsKimi once posted a photo on Instagram that she was spending some time with Twitch streamer FedMyster, which began rumors that the two were dating, as they were spotted together at Coachella. He later confirmed that they were dating, and it sparked a bit of backlash due to many supporting FedMyster dating another streamer, Pokimane.
However, it is not known if Kimi is still dating him, as she has not posted anything about him since the event. She’s also admitted that she has had a tough time searching for the right guy, often ending up with men she liked but who didn’t reciprocate her feelings, or that turned out to be of a bad personality.
There were also some rumors that she’s interested in women, as she’s commented on how she loves girls. People have confronted her on whether or not she is a bisexual, but she has denied this, only stating that she admires women. She wants to have a long-term partner who is also a gamer, which is why she helped found the dating app, Kippo.
