Angelo was fined by the United States Environmental Protection Agency for violating the Clean Water Act. He sued the government and his case was brought before the U.S. Supreme Court. One justice had to recuse himself and the case was a 4-4 tie. Tsakopoulos purchased a 70,000 volume history collection and donated it to the library of his alma matter in 2002. He is a minority owner of the United Football League’s Sacramento Mountain Lions. His son is the CEO and President of KT Communities and his daughter is the president of AKT Development Corporation. Angelo has made contributions to the UC Davis M.I.N.D. Institute, Sacramento Tree Foundation, the Roseville Arts Center, and the Crocker Art Museum.
