Andy Hurley was born on May 31, 1980 in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. His interest in music arose when he was very young. He played percussion in the school band, though his first instrument was a saxophone. However, soon enough, Andy was able to master the drums. Right after University, he started filling in as a touring drummer in the newly formed band called “Fall Out Boy”. He was soon pulled onboard as a full time drummer in 2003. He achieved great commercial success along with other members of the band. The band toured the world to high appreciation and wide applause.
When the band went into a hiatus in the year 2009, Andy’s popularity and talent had surged. He moved on to play with a number of hardcore punk bands including Race Traitor, Project Rocket, X for Death or Glory X and Arma Angelus. Fall out Boy then announced a return, a new album, Save Rock and Roll, along with a tour on February 4, 2013. The said album was released on April 16, 2013. The band’s sixth album, American Beauty/American Psycho launched last January 16, 2015 which debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200.
Hurley holds a double major in anthropology and history. He has been a strict vegan and straight edge follower for over 13 years. He loves comic books and he still keeps his first drum set from C & C Custom Drums.
