His interest in meteorology developed at the age of four when he saw dark clouds from an approaching storm. This was the beginning of an all-consuming desire to learn the weather of all kinds however during his childhood years in Minnesota, the rainstorms of winter and the well-known “Nor’Easter” took on a special liking.
