Anastasia Virganskaya is the beautiful daughter of Irina Mikhailovna Virganskaya. She is also the granddaughter of Russian and Soviet politician Mikhail Gorbachev.
Mikhail is the former Soviet leader who was confirmed dead at 91 in Russia. He served as the last leader of the Soviet Union and will always be remembered as he ended the cold war.
On August 30, 2022, he breathed his last at the Central Clinical Hospital in Moscow. Mikhail died after a severe and prolonged illness. He had been under the continuous supervision of doctors since the beginning of 2020.
He was the longest-lived ruler of Russia, surpassing Alexander Kerensky, a Russian lawyer and revolutionary, and Vasily Kuznetsov, the nominal leader of the USSR – both lived to be 89 years old.
Mikhail married fellow student Raisa Titarenko Gorbacheva in 1953 while studying at Moscow State University. After several years of marriage, the couple welcomed their daughter, Irina, in January 1957.

Anastasia Virganskaya is best known for being the daughter of Irina Mikhailovna Virganskaya. Sadly, her grandfather, Mikhail Gorbachev passed away on August 30, 2022, at age 91.
In July 1999, Anastasia’s grandmother, Raisa Gorbacheva, was diagnosed with leukemia. She was then transferred to a cancer center in Munster, Germany, with the assistance of German Chancellor Gerhard Schroder.
There Raisa underwent chemotherapy; however, in September she fell into a coma and passed away. After her passing, Irina along with her daughters, Anastasia, and Ksenia Virganskaya moved to live with Mikhail in his Moscow home.
Mikhail never remarried after the death of his beloved wife, Raisa. According to his will, the former Soviet Union leader will be buried in Moscow’s Novodevichy Cemetry next to his loving wife, who died in 1999.
Mikhail met Raisa when she was studying in the university’s philosophy department. At the time, she was engaged to another man but after the engagement fell apart, she started dating Gorbachev; the couple went to museums, bookstores, and art exhibitions.
On September 25, 1953, the pair registered their marriage at Sokolniki Registry Office. They moved in together at the Lenin Hills dormitory in October. Later, she discovered that she was expecting her first child, and although the pair wanted to keep the child Raisa fell ill and required a life-saving abortion.

Anastasia Virganskaya was born on March 27, 1987, and is thirty-five years old. Her older sister, Ksenia Virganskaya, was born on January 21, 1980, and is forty-two years old.
Her loving mother, Irina Virganskaya, is sixty-five years old and was born on January 6, 1957. She married fellow student Anatoly Virganskiy in 1978; however, the couple separated in 1993, after fifteen years of marriage.
After the death of her mother, Raisa, in 1999, Irina and her two daughters moved to Moscow to live with her father, Mikhail. She has been happily married to Andrey Trukhachyov since 2006.
Anastasia and her older sister, both studied at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations. While both the sisters were still young, they were known around Moscow for showing up in beautiful Versace gowns whenever there was a party.
Later, they put the hard-partying and glamorous fun day of their youth in the rear-view mirror and focused on domesticity. Anastasia and Ksenia now device all their time with the family, avoiding social events.

Anastasia has traveled a lot around the world and has helped her mother in her work with the Gorbachev Foundation. She regularly attended events related to the work of her grandfather’s personal funds.
