Amen and Ausar, who both recently turned 20 years old, gave up their right to attend college in order to join OTE in 2021, the year it was founded, believing that a less conventional path was best for them.
Ausar, the team captain of the City Reapers, chose Thompson with the first pick in the league draft, and they both competed for them throughout the 2022–23 OTE season.
On January 9, 2023, Thompson received his first OTE Player of the Week award, three days after defeating the Cold Hearts 101-90 with 22 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, and five steals.
He was selected to the All-OTE First Team at the conclusion of the regular season.
The YNG Dreamerz were the opponent of the City Reapers in the OTE Finals. Thompson’s game-winning layup in Game 2 of the Finals gave the City Reapers an 80-78 victory and a 2-0 series lead.
After winning Game 3 of the Finals, the City Reapers won the series 3-0.
