Ambrose Lee Siu-Kwong was a Hong Kong politician who served as Secretary for Security and a member of the Executive Council. On August 5, 2003, he was appointed to replace Regina Ip.
Lee served as security minister during some of the government’s most difficult times in the last 25 years, including protests by South Korean farmers at a World Trade Organization summit in 2005, which forced police to close down parts of downtown, and a protracted hostage crisis in Manila in 2010, in which eight Hong Kong tourists and their tour guide, a fellow countryman, were killed.
Ambrose Lee Cause Of Death
Ambrose Lee Siu-Kwong, Hong Kong’s longest-serving security secretary, died in his sleep on Sunday at the age of 73, after leading the government’s response to chaotic protests at a trade summit and a deadly hostage crisis involving residents visiting the Philippines.
Lee is survived by his son Glen Lee Lam-yan, a long-time artist for local broadcaster TVB. He told the media that his father’s position in the government hampered his acting career development because he was always assigned “positive” roles.
