Clint was born to parents of mixed African ethnicity, with his father being a native of Angola and his mother Philomene is from Congo.
According to the Olympics, Clint’s mother, Philomene Capela, left Congo to pursue her dream of becoming an actress and came to Switzerland in 1993. She met Clint’s father for the first time in Switzerland and bonded well since they were both immigrant citizens, with him coming from Angola. They started dating after spending their time as a friend for some time.
This romantic couple turned their relationship into marriage and shared three children. Unfortunately, their marriage life did not work for long, and they decided to separate after Clint was born. Philomene took all the responsibility for their three kids and raised them in Geneva, after settling down.
Meanwhile, Clint has no recollection of his dad since his parents separated when he was still a baby.

Clint Capela spent his childhood with his mother after his parents separated. Philomena raised him along with his two elder brothers.
After the divorce, she faced lots of difficulties raising three kids independently, and her financial condition was fragile. The single mom worked in a factory to feed them and did many odd jobs to fulfill the basic needs of her sons.
In an interview, Clint said that his mother struggled to provide for the basic needs of three children. She worked every day of the week, and even she had no time to care for them. Sometimes, she left him at his friend’s home so that he could go to school with his friends.
Clint and his two brothers have partly spent their childhood in a foster care house due to financial problems. During that time, he became more passionate about sports and engaged in soccer from an early age. Later, he switched to basketball following his brother’s suggestion.
