She founded the Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, which held its first event, the first of its kind in the nation, at the American Express Community Stadium in 2013.
Mrs. Bloom, who was born in Australia, first experienced symptoms when she was 28 years old, including numbness in her legs and feet, which led to the diagnosis of a spinal lesion.
But it wasn’t until a hospital registrar assumed she had MS that she was diagnosed – the first time anyone had mentioned it to her.
Her busy life had crumbled around her in a week as she was racked with nausea and dizzy spells, she could barely raise her arms, and she was forced to live with relatives where she received round-the-clock care. Thankfully she has overcome it.
