After her targeted comment to two famous people of color in her interview with the New Consumer in May 2020, Alison Roman left her position as an NYT Cooking columnist though she has not been canceled.
After receiving backlash on social media and news columns alike, she announced she was leaving New York Times as the Cooking Columnist.
She was asked to acknowledge her white privilege as she accused two women of Asian descent. She was criticized for not being aware of her statements as she could have simply said, “Branding isn’t for me.”
She currently has a newsletter on substack. She shares her recipe in her newsletter as well as on her Instagram. Her posts appear almost every day, sometimes with a gap of two to three days.
You can find her on Instagram under @alisoneroman.

Alison Roman is not cancelled.
Since May of 2020, Roman had been on sabbatical from her New York Times Cooking column, following a highly public dispute between the wife of John Legend, Chrissy Teigen, and Marie Kondo.
However, on December 17 of last year, she shared an Instagram post with a photo of her pulling down her grey sweatshirt as she smiled for the camera.
She expressed her overwhelming happiness on seeing her recipe for lil shallot pasta as the number 1 recipe on NYT Cooking for the year 2020.
Later down on the caption, she went on to say, “Feels like a good time to formally mention I won’t be returning to NYT Cooking.”
