Kandara Member of Parliament Alice Wahome has moved to court over the withdrawal of her security.
She says all police bodyguards who had been attached to her were all recalled and she is yet to be informed of any reasons that led to the said action.
In her court documents, the lawmaker further says that she has neither been charged nor informed of any investigations being conducted against her on suspicion of having committed any crimes.
Wahome argues that she is unable to effectively discharge her duties to members of her constituency and the country due to the withdrawal of her security.
“The petitioner believes that the arbitrary action and its timing when the petitioner has recently made remarks directed to the government in respect of impunity and bad governance is meant to harass and intimidate the petitioner from the political stand and position she has taken,” reads the petition.
The legislator says that she is afraid that she might be attacked and harmed based on the nature of her duties as a lawmaker for Kandara Constituency.
