Ali Krieger Wife Ashlyn Harris Proud As Soccer Star Announces Retirement

Ali Krieger married wife Ashlyn Harris married on December 28, 2019. Krieger had a lavish wedding ceremony at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens.

The Gotham FC right back Krieger met Harris in 2010 at the USWNT training camp. At that time, Krieger was playing for FFC Frankfurt, one of the top clubs in the world. 

Krieger and Harris were dealt to Gotham FC on December 6, 2021, in replace for a first-round pick in the 2022 NWSL Draft. 

Before joining Gotham FC, she spent five seasons with the Orlando Pride and four seasons with the Washington Spirit, leading them to the NWSL championship game in 2016. She has also been acknowledged for her splendid performance with a spot on the NWSL Best XI.

Furthermore, the 38-year-old recently apprised her retirement from professional soccer on CBS Mornings on March 23, 2023.

Ali and Ashlyn tied the knot in December 2019, three days after Christmas. The wedding occurred at The Vizcaya Museum and Gardens in Miami, Florida.  

To make their wedding day impeccable, they teamed up with Sara Lowell of Sara Renee Events to bring their vision to life. Their aisle was adorned with simple white flowers and rose petals, adding an elegant touch to the occasion.

Following the ceremony, guests headed to the reception and found their seats at tables named after LGBTQ icons such as Marsha P. Johnson and Anderson Cooper. 

The menu was colorful and thoughtfully designed, catered by Dena Lowell Blauschild and The Cook and the Cork. The couple also made a wardrobe change before the party began. 

Ali donned the Condesa dress by Pronovias, customized to become a mini-dress with a high-low effect. 

Ashlyn also changed her wedding ensemble as the night went on, swapping her pants for shorts and her tuxedo jacket for a sleeveless shirt and vest by Thom Browne, giving her the freedom to dance without restraint.

The night was filled with excitement, and the newlyweds cut their beautiful rainbow cake before doing their first dance to Kina Grannis’s “Stand by Me,” played live in an acoustic version.

The couple first crossed paths in 2010 at the USWNT training camp, where they became friends. 

Their friendship evolved into a romantic relationship, but they kept it under wraps for a long time due to fear of losing endorsement deals. 

However, they couldn’t hide their relationship for long, as hardcore soccer fans suspected the two before they decided to go public with their relationship. 

After a decade of dating, Ashlyn proposed to Ali during a vacation in Clearwater, Florida. It was a much-needed break after a long season, and Ashlyn popped the question to which she said ‘yes.’

Ashlyn Harris is a global creative advisor at Gotham FC. She is a former soccer player representing the United States women’s national soccer team in 2013.

She started playing soccer at age 14 and began her college soccer career with the University of North Carolina Tar Heels. She helped the team win three NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championships during her stint. 

Professionally, she played for various teams, including Saint Louis, the Western New York Flash, the Washington Freedom, the Washington Spirit, Gotham FC, and the Orlando Pride. 

In November 2022, she announced her retirement from professional soccer at the Player’s Ball in New York City.

Off the field, Harris is recognized for her unique sense of style and extensive tattoos. She has uttered interest in fashion, music, surfing, and skateboarding. 

In 2017, she signed a multi-year consent deal with Umbro as its first female brand ambassador. Additionally, Harris launched her own T-shirt line, showcasing her passion for fashion.

Since their wedding in December 2019, the couple has always planned on bringing a child into their lives, and adoption has been their priority.

In an interview on the Snacks podcast with Sam Mewis and Lynn Williams, Harris shared that adopting a child before having a biological one was vital to them. They wanted their adopted child to feel unconditional love before adding another child.

The adoption process, which they expected to take years, happened much more quickly than anticipated.

After keeping the news to themselves during the USWNT’s Fall Series, Harris and Krieger shared it with their teammates during the 2021 January camp, when baby Sloane was due anytime soon. 

Sloane was born in February of that same year, and the couple was able to be there for her birth. The duo are thrilled to be mothers to their two children and believe adoption is a crucial way to provide a loving home for needy children.

Ali dad Kenneth Krieger is the director of coaching development and tactics at the Northern Virginia soccer club. 

Ken has had an illustrious career in soccer, with several notable accomplishments to his name. He attained four State Championships as coach of C. D. Hylton High School, two NCAA Division I National Championships, and two US Youth Soccer Regional Championships.

After graduating, Ken commenced coaching in 1978 at Harford Community College in Bel Air, Maryland. A year later, he joined the Prince William County school system as a teacher and coach until 2007, when he retired.

In addition to coaching high school soccer, Ken was also an assistant coach at The American University from 1982 to 1986, helping the team reach the NCAA Men’s Soccer National Final in 1985.

He later joined the George Mason University staff as an assistant coach under Gordon Bradley from 1986 to 1988, per his LinkedIn page. 

Ken has also acted as the Technical Director of Player & Coach Development at Prince William Soccer, Inc. and McLean Youth Soccer, demonstrating his commitment to developing young players and coaches.
