Alexander Aristides “Alex” Reid (born 21 July 1975) is an English mixed martial artist, kickboxer, and actor. He has fought for Cage Rage, BAMMA, UCMMA and Bellator. Throughout his MMA career he has fought some well known fighters, especially from the earlier days of the UFC, such as former welterweight champion Dave Menne and UFC 14 middleweight finalist Tony Fryklund, he has also faced Murilo Rua, Tom Watson, Xavier Foupa-Pokam, Chris Wotton, Mark Weir, and Jorge Rivera.

Early life

Reid was born in Aldershot, Hampshire, the son of Bob and Carol Reid. He is the youngest of six siblings. He is of Scottish descent on his father’s side.

In 1991, Reid was a member of the Hampshire Scout unit that was visiting Japan and South Korea, taking part in the 17th World Scout Jamboree at Mount Sorak National Park. In 1996, Reid enlisted with 10th (Volunteer) Battalion of the Parachute Regiment (10 PARA), a Territorial Army unit based in London, and spent three years training as a recruit before being discharged.

Career

In 1998 Reid studied on the one-year acting course at the Guildford School of Acting, in Surrey.

Acting

Reid played Jason Cunliffe in the Channel 4 soap-opera Hollyoaks, which he left in 2001. He made an appearance in the comedy My Hero in the following year. At this time he used the stage name “Alex Thorne”. After a period away from acting, he appeared in the film Killer Bitch which was released in 2010; the film was described as pornographic and received terrible pre-release coverage. The film was made when he was still largely unknown, working as fighter and doorman, but released after he had become a celebrity. Reid failed to show up at the Premiere of the film at the Curzon Cinema, Mayfair, drawing criticism from the cast of the film. He had previously attacked the producers for ‘using him for publicity’, though he had walked out of the film without completing the role causing a complete shut down of the production for 6 weeks. He was replaced by ex-World Champion boxer Robin Reid (no relation). In June 2010, Reid challenged Reid to a boxing match. Reid signed with Salopian Films for a new comedy series called For the Love of Ella.

Mixed martial arts

Reid first got in to martial arts at 14 and with time turned to mixed martial arts: “It was just a natural progression. I started off doing kung fu, karate-style tournaments before moving on to boxing, kickboxing, a little bit of judo, jiu-jitsu. MMA was a natural progression for a young lad wanting to find the latest and best style. It’s just the most efficient and effective blend of martial arts really.” He participated in mixed martial arts promotions Cage Rage, BAMMA and UCMMA and made his professional mixed martial arts debut in 2000.

Between 2004 and 2007, Reid appeared in the Cage Rage Championships. During this period, he faced a number of international fighters such as Daijiro Matsui, Dave Menne, Xavier Foupa-Pokam, Tony Fryklund, Jorge Rivera and Murilo “Ninja” Rua. On 22 September 2007, Reid faced Matt Ewin for the Cage Rage British Middleweight Championship at Cage Rage 23: Unbelievable, where he lost via unanimous decision. The Cage Rage promotion lost its Sky Sports television coverage in May 2008 and Reid then joined MMA promoter Dave O’Donnell’s Ultimate Challenge MMA. Reid won his debut at UCMMA 2 – Unbreakable against John Maguire. He then won the UK1 kickboxing Middleweight title against Jake Bostwick at UCMMA 5 – Heat, and then defended it against Jack Mason at UCMMA 7 – Mayhem. Reid gave up his title in early 2010 so he could enter the 7th series of Celebrity Big Brother.

On 15 May 2010, Reid was scheduled to return to the cage professionally for the first time since 2007 to face Tom “Kong” Watson for the vacant BAMMA Middleweight Championship at BAMMA 3. However, Reid injured his knee while filming his documentary TV series Alex Reid: The Fight of His Life and was forced to pull out of the Reid-Watson fight. Reid was replaced by UFC and IFL veteran Matt Horwich, who Watson beat by decision to win the title. The Reid-Watson bout was then rescheduled for BAMMA 4 on 25 September 2010 and Reid caused further controversy by showing up for the official weigh-ins three hours late.

On 14 May 2011, Reid announced his retirement from MMA at an Cage Rage UK event in London. However, he did not rule out a return to the sport in future. His retirement was short lived, as he accepted a challenge from Jason Barrett. During the weigh-ins the day prior to the 2011 fight, both men weighed in at just under the 13 st 3 lb mark, being 13 st 2 lb and 13 st 1 lb respectively. For the camera shot of both men squared up to each other, Reid kissed Barrett on the lips, which infuriated him and he had to be held back by UCMMA officials. Reid was laughing at his reaction, and vowed he would apologise “after the fight”. On 6 August, Reid defeated Jason Barrett, via triangle choke in the first round, marking his first win in 6 years in MMA and claimed the Super Title in the process.

In September 2012, Reid was set to return to BAMMA at the 1 December 2012 BAMMA 11 against Sam Boo.

Bellator

On 16 July 2016, Reid made his return to MMA for the first time in nearly four years when he lost to Rodney Moore at Bellator 158. This marks the first time he has fought for a top tier promotion.

Celebrity Big Brother

On 3 January 2010, Reid became one of twelve housemates in Channel 4’s 7th and final series of Celebrity Big Brother. Reid was heavily booed on his entry, which he acknowledged saying “this is why I’m here, to hopefully change these boos into cheers” during his time in the house. He managed to win over the public and on 29 January he won the show with 65% of the vote, the highest rate ever recorded on the show.

Personal life

Reid began dating English glamour model Katie Price on 17 July 2009, thus becoming embroiled in intense publicity in Britain following Price’s divorce from Peter Andre. On 2 February 2010, Reid and Price married in Las Vegas. In January 2011, Price announced they had separated. Since June 2011 he was dating reality television personality Chantelle Houghton which brought him a daughter, born 17 June 2012, as his then-fiancee.

Aaron Carter’s net worth, biography, fact, career, awards and life story

Aaron Carter Net Worth: Aaron Carter is an American singer and actor who has a net worth of $400 thousand. Carter is most famous for being a pop singer in the late 1990s, and he has appeared on several television shows, including “Lizzie McGuire” (2001), “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch” (2001), and “7th Heaven” (2004). Aaron’s 1997 self-titled debut album was certified Gold in Canada, Denmark, Germany, Norway, and Sweden. It was his second album, “Aaron’s Party (Come Get It),” that made him a star. That album eventually sold over 3 million copies in the U.S. alone and launched Carter on an international tour. As of this writing, Aaron has sold more than 4 million albums in the US and 10 million worldwide. Aaron has also starred in stage productions of “Seussical” and “The Fantasticks,” and in 2009, he competed on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars,” coming in fifth place with partner Karina Smirnoff. Early Life: Aaron Carter was born Aaron Charles Carter on December 7, 1987, in Tampa, Florida. His parents, Robert (who passed away in 2017) and Jane, ran a retirement home, and Carter grew up with older brother Nick (one of the Backstreet Boys), older sisters Leslie and BJ, and twin sister Angel. Sadly, Leslie died of a drug overdose in 2012; two weeks before her death, Aaron had offered to pay for her to go to rehab. Aaron began his music career at a very young age, and his parents acted as his managers. He studied at the Frank D. Miles Elementary School and the Ruskin School and learned from tutors while touring. Music Career: Carter began performing at age 7, when he became the lead singer of the band Dead End. He left the band two years later, and in March 1997, he sang a cover of “Crush on You” by The Jets while opening for the Backstreet Boys and was signed to a record label. Aaron released “Crush on You” as a single later that year, and it went gold in Australia. His self-titled debut album, which was released on December 1, 1997, reached #5 on the Norwegian charts and #6 on the Swedish charts. Carter’s second album, “Aaron’s Party (Come Get It),” was released on September 26, 2000, and peaked at #4 on the “Billboard” 200 chart. The certified 3x Platinum album spawned the singles “That’s How I Beat Shaq” and “I Want Candy.” During this period, Aaron served as the opening act for several Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears concerts, and in March 2001, he performed a concert with Samantha Mumba live on the Disney Channel. The following month, he played JoJo the Who in “Seussical,” making his Broadway debut at the age of 13. In August 2001, Carter debuted a new album, the certified Platinum, “Oh Aaron,” and Play Along Toys released an Aaron Carter action figure. Later that year, Aaron appeared on the “Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius” soundtrack, and in 2002, he released the DVD “Oh Aaron: Live in Concert” as well as his fourth album, “Another Earthquake!” That year, Carter’s parents sued Lou Pearlman, his former manager, alleging that he owed Aaron a substantial amount of royalties; Pearlman was also sued by the Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC. Aaron didn’t release another album until 2018, and the second single off of “Love,” “Sooner or Later,” was certified Gold in Italy and reached #4 on the “Billboard” Spotify Viral 50. Film and Television Career: Aaron made his television debut on a 1998 episode of Nickelodeon’s “Figure It Out,” then he guest-starred on the Disney Channel’s “Lizzie McGuire” and ABC’s “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch” in 2001. In 2006, the E! network gave the Carters their own show, “House of Carters,” which aired eight episodes. Aaron has also appeared in several films, including “Fat Albert” (2004), “Ella Enchanted” (2004), “Popstar” (2005), and “I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With” (2006). Bankruptcy and Legal Issues: In November 2013, Carter filed for bankruptcy in the state of Florida, citing $3.5 million in debt. In the bankruptcy filing, Carter listed his total assets at just $8,232.16. Most of the liability came from earnings during the height of his popularity. Aaron apparently owed $1.368 million to the IRS alone. He further listed an average monthly income of $2,000 and average monthly expenses of $2,005. At the time of the filing, Carter was living with a relative and claimed his most valuable physical assets were a $500 television, two MacBook computers, a Louis Vuitton backpack, and a $3,500 Breitling watch. Aaron has had a number of run-ins with the law. In 2008, he was stopped for speeding and was arrested when police found a small amount of marijuana in his vehicle, and he was charged with DUI and marijuana possession in 2017. In 2019, Nick and Angel Carter obtained restraining orders against Aaron after he told Angel that he had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia and had “thoughts of killing babies” as well as Nick’s then-pregnant wife. Personal Life: In April 2020, Aaron announced that he is expecting a child with his girlfriend, model Melanie Martin, and they became engaged in June. The couple first began dating in January 2019 but briefly split up in March 2020 after Martin was arrested for assaulting Carter. Aaron, who is bisexual, was previously engaged to actress/model Kari Ann Peniche, and he dated actresses Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan (at the same time) in the early 2000s. Carter has suffered from several health issues, including a hiatal hernia and lactose intolerance, and he previously mixed opiates with benzodiazepines to treat anxiety and sleep problems. Underweight and malnourished, he entered a Malibu rehabilitation facility in 2017. In 2019, Aaron alleged that his late sister Leslie had sexually abused him for three years, beginning when he was 10, and accused his brother of abuse as well. Real Estate: In October 2018, Aaron paid $430,000 for a 2,686 square foot home in Lancaster, California. He put the 3-bedroom home on the market for $599,000 in July 2020.
