The Voice van Vlaanderen (English-Dutch for The Voice of Flanders) is a Belgian reality singing competition for the Flemish part of Belgium, and which is part of the franchise that started in the Netherlands as The Voice of Holland. It kicked off on November 25, 2011 on VTM
One of the important premises of the show is the quality of the singing talent. Four coaches, themselves popular performing artists, train the talents in their group and occasionally perform with them. Talents are selected in blind auditions, where the coaches cannot see, but only hear the auditioner. Alex has been a coach on the show in seasons 1, 2 and 5.

Why Alex Callier does not want children

Hooverphonic saw many front women pass by. How is that? “Out of necessity, because the singers always roll it out”, laughs Callier. “Esther Lybeert wanted to finish her studies first, Liesje Sadonius was just incredibly homesick , Geike Arnaert wanted a solo career and with Noémie Wolfs it did not bother anymore. We then decided together to put a point behind it. I am quite a difficult person, but I am not that difficult either, I think. If I am very honest, then I think that some people want to make it happen at a certain moment. That is their right. Then they can also do their own thing, because if you are with three you have to agree and make compromises. ”
The name of the group is, incidentally, derived from a vacuum cleaner. “A friend of my brother had heard our very first demo and we did not have a name yet. He said, “That is vacuum cleaner music.” I was humbled by that description, but apparently he meant that the music sucks you into another universe. At that moment I saw my mother vacuuming with her Hoover vacuum cleaner and ‘Hoover’ has become the name “, says Alex. “After a while we noticed that a German and an American group also had the same name, so it has become ‘Hooverphonic’.”
Non-existent children’s wish
Callier wants to be the best producer and musician, and that has consequences for his private life. For example, children are not in it. ” I have nothing against children, on the contrary, but you can not do everything in life. I want 100% focus on my job. If I were a father, then I know myself that I would want to do that perfectly and then I would have to start splitting my time between being the perfect dad, the perfect producer, the perfect songwriter and leader of the band, but that is not going. It would be difficult for me to let one of those things bite a bit, “says Alex.
Even though he does not completely exclude children: “I have always had the feeling that I did not want children. My current wife and I both have the same feeling about this. I am very much aware that if my wife would say that she wants children anyway, I can not stop that, and then I am not the one who would. “
