He served as the Vice President of Sierra Leone from 29 March 1996 to 25 May 1997, when the administration was overthrown by a military junta. After the junta was deposed in 1998, he continued his term until 1999, when he was dropped from vice presidency by Ahmad Tejan Kabbah in favor of Foday Sankoh. The vice-presidency was stripped from Sankoh in 2000, and Demby took his place once again. Kabbah’s term ended in 2002, and Demby was succeeded as Vice President by Solomon Berewa, who had previously served as Minister of Justice and Attorney-General. Like Berewa, Joe Demby is from the Mende ethnic group. [1]

Thomas Straumann’s net worth, biography, fact, career, awards and life story

Thomas Straumann Net Worth: Thomas Straumann is a Swiss businessman who has a net worth of $1.1 billion. Thomas Straumann inherited the vast of his fortune from his grandfather Reinhard Straumann, who founded an alloy institute in 1954. In 1989, the company spread its operations in the States, and by 1998, it went public. Reinhard invented metals that are used as components in watch making, whereas his father, Fritz, was a pioneer in dental implants. Thomas served as Chairman for years of his father’s Straumann Holding, the world’s biggest producer of dental implants. But having retired more than a decade ago, he decided to sell bulk of his shares in November 2012. It was maybe too early, as the stock of the company has climbed steadily since May 2013, enough for him to get back to the billionaire ranks after one year absence. Aside from the above, Thomas Straumann set up and has been chairing implant maker Medartis, and he owns Swiss luxury hotels Hotel Les Trois Roi and Grand Hotel Bellevue, as well as a stable of race horses. His daughter Flaminia is a champion rider, and hopefully will represent Switzerland in the Rio Olympics in 2016.
