Alaina was born Amanda Marie Scott on May 3, 1993. Although details of her biological father remain unknown, her mother is Dawn Scott, the twin sister of Eminem’s ex-wife Kim Scott. They (Dawn and Kim Scott) were born on January 9, 1975. As a teenager (12 years old), in 1987, Dawn, her twin mother, and her twin sister Kim fled their home where they lived in difficult conditions and started to live with Eminem’s family in a trailer.

A few years later, Eminem begins a romantic relationship with Kim. Kim Scott then gave birth to Eminem’s daughter, Hailie Matters, in 1995, two years after Alaina’s birth. At that time, Eminem had not yet returned as a rapper and worked 60 hours a week in a restaurant to support his family.
In the mid-2000s, when Eminem rose to fame, adopted Amanda Scott and changed her name to Alaina Marie Mathers. The adoption was due to Dawn’s drug addiction and frequent run-ins with the law. Eminem raised Alaina with his own biological daughter, Hailie, who took her in as his sister.
Alaina’s mother, Dawn Scott, died in January 2016 from a heroin overdose. She was found dead at her home in Warren, Michigan. Before her death, her boyfriend Les Martin, with whom she often lived, revealed that she “doped herself with any type of drug”.

“I kept a light on for her in hopes of finding her back to me. I miss and love her more than I can say. I wish she was here so I could hug her and tell her I love her. Half of me is gone and I’ll never feel whole again. She made me laugh and kept me on my toes. She was the best sister and friend in the world and I will miss her until we are together.
Although Alaina was raised as Hailie’s sister, she is technically her cousin. Also, Alaina has another cousin/sister called Whitney Scott Mathers. Whitney Mathers, born April 16, 2002, is the daughter of Kim Scott and her boyfriend, Eric Hatter, whom she dated when she first divorced Eminem. When she and Eminem reunited, Eminem adopted her as his daughter and raised her alongside Alaina and Hailie.
