How Does High School Football Playoffs Work?

High School Football Playoffs pits the best teams from each region of the conference to determine a State Champion.

There are usually seven conferences and various regions in each state. If the participating teams are too much to handle, a further classification into sections is done.

High school football teams play 10 or 11 games a season, and the top teams qualify for the playoffs.

If there is a single conference without any sub-section, the path to State title becomes a bit easier. But, if there are sub-sections, the winners need to contest against each other for the trophy.

The conference and grouping are done according to the student size of the school. A school in 1A has the least enrolled students, while the 7A schools have the highest students.
