Akiva Schaffer, an American film writer, won the lottery when he crossed paths with his wife, Liz Cackowski. She is also an author.
Born and raised in Berkeley, California, he is best known for directing Chip ’N Dale: Rescue Rangers and tweaks pop culture genres as his favorite chore.
The reboot of the detective-buddy-comedy is nothing but a back-to-back rolling-on-the-ground laughing type of screenplay, available on Disney plus from May 20.
The animated story followed two chipmunks, voiced by John Mulaney and Andy Samberg, set 30 years after their series got canceled.
Akiva Schaffer Wife Liz Cackowski Is A Writer
Akiva Schaffer knew he had found the one when he met his now wife, Liz Cackowski. Her career began at The Second City in Chicago, where she got scouted by Saturday Night Live and worked for three years.
According to whispers on the internet, they met in Los Angeles after landing writing jobs for MTV Movie Awards.
Schaffer, an up-and-coming presence in the circle, found fame for creating The Lonely Island, also tried his luck and succeeded. She knew of him and developed an unlikely crush.
Wanting to impress her new figure of affection, she used to practice saying his name in the mirror. Getting overwhelmed by the feelings, she outright stated her confession, leaving Akiva flabbergasted.
Since their homes were on two opposing sides of America, with him in Los Angeles and her in New York, he got terrified of the long distance until he took the gamble and accepted the job at SNL.
But everything was not blissful in paradise as they had yet to have the conversation of being fully exclusive or breaking up.
Fortunately, things worked out, as they are now parents to two amazing kids.
In 2009, they celebrated their fourth anniversary when they did a Secrets of Happy Couples interview for Glamour magazine. The pair said the mystery behind their successful relationship was their shared sense of humor.
They Are Not Big On Flaunting Their Love On Instagram
Writer Liz Cackowski, and her husband, Akiva Schaffer, are not the ones who express their passion through social media, rarely talking about their lives over the years.
Indeed, Liz has private her Instagram handle, opening her 378 posts to only close friends and family.
On the other hand, her spouse does not waste his time on the platform, letting his work speak for itself. Even his Twitter handle is under the name of his project, The Lonely Island, as he posts some behind-the-scenes footage with his lifelong buddies Andy Samberg and Jorma Taccone.
Their hold on their privacy has gotten stronger since their children’s arrival, refusing to expose their names to get hounded by paparazzi.
Some may even speculate if it is trouble with hints of impending doom but fear not as they strut the red carpet together in terms of premieres to support the other’s work.
They Are Each Other’s Date At Events
Akiva Schaffer and friends descended with their wives on the red carpets, with Liz Cackowski looking beautiful in his arms.
In 2016, she became his plus-one for the Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping premiere at AMC Loews Lincoln Square, New York, where she wore a floral mid-length dress to suit the night. They got joined by their friends as it seemed like a group affair.
Before that, they looked elegant at the 87th Annual Academy Awards Highland Center and stuck together with their companions. Her orange and dark gown got paired with a peculiar cat-shaped handbag that matched the attire.
Other ladies wore similar deep neck cuts holding hands with their husbands while smiling for the camera.
The Couple Works In The Same Industry
It’s safe to say that one does not miss their partner if one works in the same industry as Akiva Schaffer and his wife, Liz Cackowski are comedy writers in Hollywood.
The couple even met because of their job, working as writers for the 2005 MTV Movie Awards, crossing paths now and again in the industry.
Her career began when she made a wide range of connections after scoring a writing gig for SNL.
In an interview with fandango All Access, he talked about the first time he and his high school buddies, now co-workers Andy Samberg and Jorma Taccone, witnessed the inner workings of SNL.
The couple was only dating then, as she was a writer for the show. She managed to sneak them when Colin Feral was the host, as the men got star stuck by the furniture.
Eventually, they entered the live show, being the staple members of the cast.
After she departed from the program, she joined hands with Maggie Carey and created an online series called The Jeannie Tate Show.
Meanwhile, she got cast for comedy stints like The Last Man on Earth on Fox, Neighbors, and its sequel Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising while sitting in the author chambers for the NBC comedy series Community.
