Ahmad Bajjey Early Life
Ahmad’s interest in the weather came with a literal bang. When he was younger, a large storm system moved through southeast Michigan and pummeled the Detroit area, with lightning hitting so close to his home it turned a tree on his street to splinters. On that day he fell in love with the weather and watching meteorologists such as Chuck Gaidica and Paul Gross on WDIV in Detroit helped him decide the broadcasting route was best for him.
Ahmad Bajjey Career
To Ahmad, Michigan is the best place to be a meteorologist. We have 4 distinct seasons (usually), and a chance for everything from tornadoes to blizzards.
His career in Mid-Michigan has brought him from tornado damage paths in Genesee Township to covering heavy floods in Sanford and Midland, and even chasing a tornado through West Branch and Hale while on the way back from filming a segment for NBC25’s Road Trippin’.
He also loves being able to visit schools and share his passion for weather with students. No matter what career they want to choose, Ahmad always says to follow your dreams and never give up.
Ahmad Bajjey Associations And Awards
Ahmad is a member of both the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society and has won multiple awards for Leadership. He is also currently pursuing his AMS CBM (Certified Broadcast Meteorologist), the highest achievement a broadcast meteorologist can earn.
He is also an active supporter of the National Marrow Donor Program to fight Leukemia, and also supports the American Cancer Society, and is a huge supporter for keeping the arts in our public schools. Music (playing his saxophone) is one of his true passions, along with all things Detroit, supporting his CMU Chippewas, and playing paintball.

Ahmad Bajjey Frost Advisories
Freeze warnings and frost advisories Friday night
A freeze warning has been issued tonight for our northern counties within the time-frame of 10 pm Friday through 8 am Saturday.
A frost advisory has also been issued for that same time in the counties immediately south of our freeze warnings. Low temperatures overnight in Iosco, Ogemaw, Roscommon counties and further north will dive to freezing or just below.
This can cause damage to plants, some crops, and even freeze water in your sprinkler system pipes outdoors. Make sure you take precautions and bring in any plants you wish to save.
Frost advisories in Isabella, Clare, Gladwin, and Arenac counties come along with lows in the mid-30s. This also means potential damage to plants so cover them up outdoors to keep them safe. We begin to climb back to normal temperatures with lows in the 40s next week.
Ahmad Bajjey Nothern Lights
Northern lights possible this weekend
An active atmosphere may bring us those shimmering Northern Lights just in time for the weekend. A coronal hole on the sun released a large amount of energy this week, and it’s arrival to Earth is expected by Friday night.
A geomagnetic storm watch has been issued for Friday and Saturday by the SWPC (Space Weather Prediction Center).
The viewing area in these conditions includes Mid-Michigan. However, the further north you go the more likely you could see them.
While the best time to potentially see the Aurora would be early Saturday morning with the highest energy level, we may have quite a bit of leftover clouds.
We’ll keep you posted on how the forecast looks for the lights and if the cloud cover forecast changes.
Ahmad Bajjey Mid-Michigan
Tornado damage confirmed in Mid-Michigan
The National Weather Service has confirmed to Meteorologist Ahmad Bajjey that a tornado touched down near New Lothrop Thursday evening near 9:23 pm.
Download the storm-ready weather APP to get live radar and alerts on your phone. Damage is consistent with that of a tornado and is being evaluated as either an EF-0 or an EF-1. 2 garages, 2 barns, and multiple trees have been damaged or destroyed.
Shiawassee County Emergency Management and the National Weather Service office in White Lake will be working together to determine the final strength.
A severe storm was moving through that area last night during the likely tornado window. Potential severe weather was part of the forecast last night. Rotating storms were occurring along that same line of storms earlier in the evening. CJ Postal took this photo of a wall cloud near Ashley in Gratiot County last night.
