There is now no doubt that Agents of SHIELD Season 6 is on the way. Back in 2018, ABC announced plans to renew the popular Marvel show, and fans will tell you it’s long overdue.
What is, even more, is that aside from the announcement of the franchise’s sixth series, ABC picked up the slack after renewing the sixth season, as well as the seventh. Even though nothing official has been heard about the seventh season of the franchise or if it might be the last season, there is already speculation that might as well be happening. Now, before we get too far ahead of ourselves, there’s a lot to learn about the sixth season.
Agents of SHIELD Season 6
Before we get to Season 6 of the Agents of SHIELD series, let’s take a look back for those new to the series. When the show started in 2013, it was a spinoff from The Avengers. It centered on Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), who assembled a team of agents from SHIELD (a clandestine organization within the MCU) who will investigate major events and people around the world they would investigate. .
This means that each of the seasons came with a different problem to solve or a different case to investigate. However, it retains the same universe as The Avengers and the Marvel Cinematic Universe in general.
The first season ran from September 2013 to May 2014, followed by the second to fourth season, which also maintained the timeline. The fifth arrived in December 2017 instead of September.
In Agents of SHIELD Season 6, the mission is to save the world and humanity after the death of agency director Phil Coulson. The new director, Alphonso MacKenzie, must reassemble his team in time and prepare his men as they attempt to eliminate the forces that are coming in order to give humanity a chance to survive.
Release date
Since Agents of SHIELD began airing in 2013, the release date has always been September, as previously reported. The first four seasons were released year after year, always maintaining the September air date and continuing until May of the following year, when the final episodes air. There was, however, a slight change in the release of the fifth season which took place in December 2017 rather than September, although this was also only a year after the fourth season and like all the others, it ended in May 2018.
Naturally, what fans were waiting for was for the sixth season in the franchise to start airing in September or December 2018, but much to their dismay, it didn’t. And the wait seemed almost like an eternity.
The good news is that a release date for Agents of SHIELD Season 6 has been officially set for May 10, 2018. Instead of the normal 22 episodes as they stand with all previous seasons, it will only come with 13 episodes, the same as for the seventh season which remains to be announced. However, it can be assumed that it will keep the same release schedule with Season 6.
As there are only 13 episodes, we wouldn’t expect the series to stretch too far from previous ones which have up to 22 episodes. Therefore, expect it to be rounded up soon and then we can start talking about the next season again and wonder if a season will come after that.
Filming for Agents of SHIELD Season 6 began in July 2018, and by December of the same year, everything was wrapped up. Contrary to what many think it was because of other Marvel work that the release date was delayed, it was actually ABC’s whole idea.
For now, no date has been given for its release on Netflix, but if the previous seasons are still to be done, it should be on Netflix by June 2019.

Or at least for now since we know the sixth season is already around the corner and there will actually be a season seven since ABC has already renewed the Marvel show for a seventh season. Interestingly, this renewal happened soon after the sixth season was selected, which means the network didn’t even wait for the show to premiere.

2. Will it be based on events in Avengers: Endgame ?
With Avengers: Endgame five years in the future, the initial rumor was that SHIELD season six . would take place after much of the population of the universe has turned to dust. The idea, according to Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel Television, is not to do something different from the movies. Well, at the very least, that was the original plan.
It was later revealed that Agents of SHIELD Season 6 will take place one year after the events of the final season, which is one year after. Avengers: Infinity War, and will likely stray from the path set by the movies due to ever-changing storylines becoming difficult to follow. However, since the show takes place several years before the events of Avengers: Endgame, the storylines aren’t going to interfere or contradict each other. Also, no character in Agents of SHIELD ‘Thanos Snap’ in the press. Avengers: Infinity War is further proof that they’re moving away from the precedent set by previous seasons, which relied heavily on the MCU’s movie timeline.
