Chaka Khan Current Husband Doug Rasheed Is Also From The Music Industry

Chaka Khan, at the age of 59, is married to her current husband Doug Rasheed. He was born on 14th February 1963 in San Diego, California to musical parents.

Rasheed’s mother Diyah Hill-Rasheed is a former vocalist while his father played guitar and recorded old Wes Montgomery songs.

Despite never having a legal marriage, the widely known pair Chaka and Doug have a relationship that is comparable to that of husband and wife.

Like Chaka, Dough has a versatile personality in the music industry. He rose to prominence as the producer and co-writer of Coolio’s Grammy-winning, multi-platinum track “Gangsta’s Paradise.” He received a Grammy nomination for record of the year.

Doug, who wears several titles, has already collaborated with a lengthy list of notable musicians, including Barry White, Lyor Cohen, Clive Davis, and Russell Simmons.

The music producer presently oversees Doug Rasheed Entertainment, a business in Charlotte, North Carolina. The firm focuses mostly on creating music for film, television, radio, and video. In the fall of 2020, Doug published his debut album.

He has also received attention for being the rumored husband of the late singer Chaka Khan. In late 2000, the two initially met.

At that time, Chaka’s producer advised her to check out a few of Doug’s recordings. She had already listened to Rasheed’s co-written and produced the mega-hit song, “Gangsta’s Paradise.” Khan and Rasheed eventually started working on a few projects as well.

Along with their artistic partnership, Khan developed feelings for Doug. In the book, she said, “I started liking Doug… “The feeling was mutual.” “There was something remarkable about Doug,” the artist continued.

Chaka Khan Has Had Two Previous Marriages

It’s not a new occurrence for teenagers to get married to one another. While some of them live on for a lifetime, others serve as examples of the stupidity of adolescent conceit. Chaka Khan experienced the same thing; she married Hassan Khan in 1970 at the age of barely 17 years old.

As a member of the Chicago band Rufus, Khan was a rising talent at the time. Being a minor prevented her from accepting the record deal on her own, but a record company made an offer in response to her rising success with Rufus. Additionally, refusing to sign was Sandra Coleman, her mother.

To fulfill her dream of making it as a musician, Khan married her boyfriend, Hassan. To speed up the procedure, the young girl pretended to be pregnant.

While the primary purpose for getting married was employment, and Chaka Khan went on to become a great music artist, the marriage itself failed, terminating within a year of their exchanging vows. The pair never had a kid together, although Chaka did later in another relationship.

Chaka Khan’s Second marriage

Chaka married her second husband, Richard Holland, in 1976. They met when she was suffering from a drug overdose.

Chaka Khan’s life had been consumed by music by the time she was in her early twenties. She spent long hours in the studio with Rufus and relied on narcotics to cope with her stress. She took a powerful sleeping medication one fateful day and was soon in an ambulance having her stomach pumped.

During her unconsciousness, she had gone to her neighbor Richard Holland’s house. She allegedly strolled up to his bed, kneeled, and passed out. His choice to dial 911 helped save her life.

After escaping the situation unharmed, Khan started dating him. Later, in 1976, the couple wed and had a son called Damien Holland.

Between 1976 and 1980, Chaka Khan and Richard Holland were partners for a total of four years before splitting up. Richard filed the divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences.” They couldn’t compromise on several topics, most notably Holland’s demand that his wife tone down her seductive stage persona, which led to the breakdown of their marriage.

Chaka Khan dated a few guys after her first two marriages broke up. One of them was a Chicago-area teacher whom she dated in the 1980s. She had separated from Rufus at the time and was becoming a solo star, which was successful.
