Clancy was born in Liverpool, the second oldest of four children of Karen and Geoffrey Thomas Clancy. She grew up in Woolton, a suburb of Liverpool, and attended St Mary’s Primary School and St Julie’s Catholic High School.
Clancy formed the girl band Genie Queen, which was managed by Andy McCluskey from Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD).

She started dating footballer Peter Crouch in 2006. The couple was engaged in July 2009 and their daughter Sophia Ruby was born on 14 March 2011. On 30 June 2011, Clancy and Crouch married.
Together they have two daughters and two sons, Sophia Ruby (born March 2011), Liberty Rose (born June 2015), Johnny (born January 2018), and Jack (born June 2019).
Abbey’s first claim to fame came after appearing as a contestant on Britain’s Next Top Model, in 2006. Abbey came runner-up in the series – losing out to fellow contestant Lianna Fowler.
After the show, Abbey went on to enjoy an array of different modeling gigs, featuring in several magazines and newspapers
