Aaron Hernandez – Bio, Daughter, Net Worth, Wife, Dead or Alive, Is He Gay?

The National Football League (NFL) continues to feel the vacuum created by the sad departure of Aaron Hernandez, who died on April 19, 2017. He stood out for his impeccable skills on the pitch. The sad news of the American soccer player’s death broke earlier this year after he committed suicide in his prison cell. There he was convicted of murdering his friend Odin Lloyd.

Drafted by the New England Patriots in 2010, Hernandez transformed the team along with his closest teammate Rob Gronkowski. Prior to his incarceration, Hernandez also performed at the Super Bowl in XLVI. Here are lesser-known facts about the player.

Aaron Fernandez’s Bio

He was born Aaron Josef Hernandez in Bristol,Connecticut in 1989 to his father Dennis Hernandez and mother Terri Valentine Hernandez. Aaron, who also had a brother, lost his father in 2006 when he was 16 and had to grow up with his mother. He was a student at Bristol Central High School where his football skills manifested. He was a big receiver on his school’s football team – Bristol Rams. When he became a senior, he was named Gatorade Football Player of the Year. Aaron also led the team to the Central Connecticut Conference Southern Division championship in 2006, in which he also lost his father. He became a tough end when he transferred to the University of Florida, winning the 2008 national championship.

However, making it to the NFL was a tough hoopla for Aaron Hernandez, who was consistently rejected by NFL teams for failing a drug test. It wasn’t just about the drugs, the player received several negative reports including bad colleagues and other degrading acts of youthful exuberance. But luckily for him, he was eventually drafted by the New England Patriots in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL draft with the 113th pick overall.

He was young; in fact, the youngest at the time, but Aaron took the NFL by storm in the 2010 season with his skillful tactics and set a rookie standard for tight ends on the team. After leading the Patriots to a 14-2 record at the AFC Championship, he joined forces with Rob Gronkowski, his closest ally, who had 24 touchdowns and 2,237 yards in Super Bowl XLVI. However, they later lost to the New York Giants. His contract was extended by five years in 2012 due to his remarkable performance with the team.

Hernandez kept flying until in 2013 he was found guilty of the murder of his friend and semi-professional soccer player Odin Lloyd. It all started on June 17 this year when the player’s body was found at a location near Aaron’s residence in North Attleborough, Massachusetts.

Is he dead or alive?

After an intense police investigation, leads led back to Aaron Hernandez and he was arrested on June 26th. After glaring evidence was reviewed, it was proven beyond a reasonable doubt that Aaron was the killer. He was also charged with the murders of Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado, who were shot dead in a drive-by shooting in Boston in 2012.

At the time, Hernandez’s contract with the England Patriots had already been terminated and he had already lost sponsorship from his team and other corporate sponsors. Hernandez was found guilty of first-degree murder and five gun charges, which meant he was immediately sentenced to life in prison.

Aaron Hernandez, who was serving his life sentence, was found dead and hanged by his sheets at Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center in Massachusetts on April 19, 2017, five days after he was acquitted of the Boston murders. His death was ruled a suicide after an autopsy was performed.

Wealth (income and earnings)

At the height of his career, Hernandez was valued at $8 million. However, as the player’s life was plagued by various controversies, his fortune gradually dwindled, falling to just $50,000 at the time of his death. The late NFL player, who is basking in his million-dollar contract with the New England Patriots, experienced a financial meltdown after his arrest in early 2013.

After losing his 7-year deal worth $39,582,000 in 2012, he not only received sponsorships but also no salaries, which amounted to huge sums of money. His base salary was $540,000, along with other benefits that totaled $11 million in his freshman year. Hernandez ran out of money as he spent large sums to pay the legal bills as well as his attorneys.

Personal life – wife, daughter

Aaron Hernandez had a family of his own before his death. Although not married, he was in a relationship with Shayanna Jenkins, with whom he had a daughter, Avielle Janelle Jenkins-Hernandez. The couple, who began dating in 2007, went from lover to fiance following their engagement in 2012. Shayanna Jenkins is a sister of Odin Lloyd’s fiancé Shaneah Jenkins.
