Nigerians recently had their jaws dropping when a makeup artist disclosed the generous amount Wizkid paid her to enhance his sister’s appearance for their late mother’s funeral. Makeup artist @atikemakeover took to social media to share her encounter with the renowned Nigerian singer, Wizkid. In a heartwarming gesture, Wizkid apparently surprised the makeup artist by giving her $1,000, which is nearly equivalent to N1 million, to apply makeup for his sister.
The makeup artist was overwhelmed with joy and expressed her excitement, dancing in her room to celebrate the unexpected generosity.
The emotional revelation comes following the passing of Juliana Morayo Balogun, Wizkid’s mother, on August 18 in London. Her funeral took place on Friday, October 13, following a church service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (City of David) on Victoria Island.
During the wake and tribute service held on Thursday, October 12, at the Balmoral Hall of the Federal Palace Hotel and Casino, Victoria Island, Lagos, Wizkid expressed his deep sorrow, describing it as the most significant pain he has ever experienced.
However, despite the somber circumstances, it seems that more triumphs continue to pour in for the Starboy. Wizkid’s songs recently achieved certified status in distant Belgium. “Made in Lagos,” “Essence,” and “Joro” have all been awarded Gold status in Belgium, underscoring the Nigerian superstar’s substantial popularity and global influence.
These certifications from Belgium signify the artist’s ever-expanding international acclaim. “Made in Lagos” received Gold status with 10,000 units sold, while “Essence” and “Joro” each attained Gold status with an impressive 20,000 units sold. Wizkid’s continued success illustrates his ability to resonate with a global audience and solidifies his status as one of Nigeria’s most celebrated musical exports.
