  • Education and Early Life

Sehun was born on the 12th of April in Seoul, South Korea. He was raised by his parents alongside his elder brother in Korea. He attended the School of Performing Arts Seoul and graduated in February 2013.

  • Career Start in Entertainment

Asides his several talents, Sehun is very good looking and his looks have always called attention to him even though he is very shy. When he was aged 12, he was scouted by an SM Entertainment agent, who had to chase him down several streets after he was spotted eating with his friends. After several persuasions, he signed into SM Entertainment in 2008.

  • His Music Career with Exo and Exo-K

In January 2012, Sehun was revealed as the fifth member of EXO. The group made their debut in April 2012 with the EP titled Mama. Although the EP wasn’t as successful as they expected, their first album titled X0X0 (2013) became a critical and commercial success, selling more than a million copies. Later on, the group was divided into subgroups EXO-K which performed in Korea and EXO-M which performed in Mandarin. The group has been referred to as the “King of K-pop” and was named one of the top five most influential celebrities by Forbes.

As a member of Exo, Sehun has won several prestigious awards alongside his teammates. Some of them include the fifth and sixth Gaon Chart Music Awards for Weibo Kpop Star Award and Artist of Fans Choice Individual. In 2017, they won the Fashionista Awards for ‘Global Icon’ and 5th V Chart Awards for ‘Most Popular Artist Tonight’. In 2018, they won the ‘Starpay Popularity Award’ at the 3rd Asia Artist Awards. And in 2019, they won the 14th Soompi for ‘Best Idol Actor’ and also Weibo Starlight Awards for Overseas Male Artist Award.

  • Sehun’s Exo-SC Venture

A sub-group called Exo-SC was formed in 2019 with Sehun and Chanyeol as its members. They released their debut EP with the title What A Life on the 22nd of July 2019. The album peaked at #1 in Korea and #8 in the United States. Most of the songs were co-written by the duo and they admitted that the songs are a reflection of their personal stories, thoughts, daily lives and the ideal lifestyle they pursue. The songs are described as unique, funny, and unprecedented.

In an interview to promote the album, Chanyeol thanked Sehun for his hard work on the songs which were all hip-hop. He revealed that it gave them the opportunity to explore another side of themselves.

It isn’t unheard of for musicians to make use of songwriters and composers to make their music as not all musicians have the talent of being able to write songs. Sehun, on the other hand, has the ability to sing and also write music. He has been credited as having penned several of the group’s biggest hits. Some of his works include Go, What a Life, Just Us 2, Closer to You, Borderline, Roller Coaster, and Daydreaming.

When Sehun started his career with Exo in 2012, he was the youngest in the group and very shy. He has grown in the very eye of the public and has picked up some acting roles. In 2016, he was cast as the main lead in a Korean-Chinese movie titled Catman. He is also the lead male in Web drama titled Dear Archimedes. The star also became a fixed cast of Busted. He also featured as the male lead in Dokgo Rewind and Secret Queen Makers.
