A 6-year-old girl named Kaia Rolle was detained by the police in handcuffs just because she threw a tantrum at school.
The incident took place in 2019 when the resource officer took the little girl into custody and put her inside the police vehicle as the kid pleaded for mercy.
She begged for one chance and asked for help as the officer took her to the station and charged her for the battery while taking her mugshots.
This incident quickly circulated on the media and created massive havoc amongst the public and also impeached the issue of discrimination against black people.
While the judge dismissed the case and fired the acting officer, the girl now lives in fear of uniformed individuals and undergoes severe cases of mental fear and stress.
Why Was Kaia Rolle Arrested At 6?
Kaia Rolle was arrested at 6 for throwing a few punches and kicks towards a school staff in a tantrum.
Rolle, with a condition named sleep apnea that makes her irritated at day, as a normal kid, was throwing tantrums at school.
The issue that could have been easily settled took a twisting turn when the resource officer, Dennis Turner, decided to arrest the little kid.
He even took the girl to the station, took her mugshots on a step stool, and charged her with battery.
Kaia Rolle Parents Reaction To Tantrum Charges
Kaia Rolle’s parents clearly showed their dissatisfied reactions to her arrest and asked for further actions towards the officer.
They rose the question of discrimination against black people and claimed that Kaia was arrested only because she was not white.
The court fired the acting officer for his actions without consultation.
However, it was not the arrest that Rolle’s parents were worried about but the mental effects on the girl.
As a child with a prior condition, Kaia developed further depressed mental stress, and fear.
Her grandmother, who took care of her from her early days, mentioned that the girl suffered from further mental problems after the incident.
Kaia Rolle Update: How Is She Now?
Kaia Rolle is currently recovering from separation anxiety and stress disorder.
Her grandmother, Kirkland, said after the incident that the child was mentally stressed and would often wake up screaming from her sleep.
Rolle suffered from anxiety and was constantly taken to several therapists.
Even to this date, the little girl, who is now around 8 years old, is still recovering from her anxiety.
