6 times people have done ridiculous things with money

We are all guilty of sometimes spending money on ridiculous things that often make us feel guilty or silly. If you’ve ever felt this way, this post is sure to make you feel better or want to auction your life on eBay.

While some people are struggling to make ends meet, some others are just sitting at home wondering what to do with all the money they’ve accumulated over time. In most cases, the result is something extraordinary. Well, it could also be bored and desperate people who need to make a really quick buck.

falcons on board

An Arab prince is said to have paid for plane tickets for his 80 hawks, as posted by this Reddit user. The photo shows dozens of birds, each occupying its own space in the center rows of the plane, and men in traditional Saudi headdresses occupying every other space not occupied by a bird.

Apparently some airlines allow falcons on board, but 80 falcons? This may seem unbelievable but it is not unattainable, especially if you are flying to or from the Middle East where falconry is a favorite pastime of the wealthy.

life for sale

Once upon a time an Australian sold his life, friends and possessions on eBay for $380,000. Ian Usher had reportedly just split from his wife when he put his life up for auction on eBay. “Who would be so stupid as to literally buy a life,” many thought. However, it turned out that there were so many “life buyers” that the winning bidder on Ian’s life offered to pay him $380,000. He has reportedly started a new life after buying an island in the Caribbean where he is staying with his girlfriend. According to him, he is now happier than ever.

Sun property.

Many of us are thankful for the free things in life like water, the sun, the air we breathe and so on, but not Angeles Duran, at least she doesn’t think any of those things are free. In fact, she claimed ownership of the sun and even stated that she would bill anyone in the world who uses the sun.

And half of the money she earns will go to the Spanish government and 20 percent to the national pension fund.

Then 10% would be dedicated to research, another 10% to fighting world hunger and she would keep the remaining 10% for herself.

A few years later, Maria took her madness to a whole new level when she started selling plots of the sun on eBay for 1 euro (73 pence) per square metre. She suffered a devastating blow to her business when the online auction site suspended her account.

First class ticket for a hat

Paul David Hewson popularly referred to as Bono once paid for a first-class ticket for his hat after realizing he had forgotten it at an airport. The £1,000 (about $1,600 USD) he paid was reportedly covered for a first-class ticket to Bologna, which a chauffeur took from the airport to the concert venue.

Well, desperate times call for desperate measures, one would say!

A kiss from Sharon Stone

It’s common for people to become obsessed with celebrities. However, what is not common is shelling out thousands of dollars just to have a 45 second kiss with your favorite celebrity.

Such was the case with a Sharon Stone fan, JoniRimm, who paid $50,000 for a kiss with the actress. Although it later turned out to be a charity stunt, many fans would do anything to put Joni in the way, right?

Expensive ice cubes

Ice cubes are pretty easy and cheap to make, right? But not if you have the Gläce Luxury Ice Co. pouch, which contains 50 ice cubes and sells for $325. The ice cubes, which are said to last longer and are healthier than the handmade ones in your fridge, are sold at high-end bars to really rich people who love their ice cream luxuriously.

Would you pay that much for a bag of 50 ice cubes?
