3 Killed In Brampton Accident By Brady Robertson -Has Been Charged With 17 Years Of Prison

Brady Robertson, a 21-year-old Caledon man, was sentenced to 17 years in prison for a deadly collision in Brampton in June 2020 that resulted in a “catastrophic” loss.

Brady Robertson “gambled with other people’s lives” when he hit and killed a lady and her three small daughters nearly two years ago.

Robertson’s “casual attitude” toward traffic laws deserved a harsh penalty, Ontario Court Justice Sandra Caponecchia told a Brampton, Ont., court Monday.

Brady Robertson Brampton Accident -Resulted in Death of Three

Karolina Ciasullo, 37, and her three kids, Lilianna, 3, Klara, 6, and Mila, 1, died on June 18, 2020, when the victim’s Volkswagen Atlas was struck by Brady Robertson’s blue Infiniti G35 at Torbram Road and Countryside Drive.

Ciasullo’s relatives and friends talked to the reporters outside the court following the decision.

Even though the penalty was “precedent-setting,” Michele’s sister, Connie Ciasullo, said it was “still a smack in the face” to the victims.

After taking into account Robertson’s pretrial confinement, she stated that he would serve 14 years in prison, which equates to three and a half years for each life lost in the crash.

As Caponecchia announced her sentencing, the courtroom erupted in gasps and sobs.

Outside, Ciasullo’s relatives slammed the punishment as insufficient because of Robertson’s acts and their lives’ long-term consequences.

Brady Robertson Arrest Charges

Brady Robertson was convicted to 17 years in prison, with the possibility of parole after serving one-third of that time and a 20-year driving ban that will begin once he is released.

Robertson, 21, will be given nearly three years credit for time spent awaiting trial, reducing his sentence to 14 years and two months.

He was also given a 34-year driving prohibition, which began when he was sentenced to prison. Following his release, he will face a 20-year ban.

Prosecutors demanded a 23-year prison term as well as a lifetime driving prohibition. Meanwhile, the defense contended that Robertson should be sentenced to seven years in prison.

Robertson pleaded guilty to four counts of bad driving resulting in death in connection with the collision in July 2021.

His lawyers contested the legality of Canada’s law defining a legal limit for THC blood content when driving, and he pled not guilty to four charges of operation while impaired by drugs causing death.

How Did Brady Robertson Crash?

Along with the two and a half years leading up to the June 18, 2020, crash in Brampton that killed Karolina Ciasullo and her three girls, ages six to one, Brady Robertson had racked up 15 traffic violations.

According to the judge, on June 16, Robertson did nothing to stop at an intersection and drove into a barrier.

She had claimed that he was “jolted out of his slumber” by the incident and sped away to elude authorities. According to the judge, the fact that no one was wounded is “pure coincidence,” according to the judge.

Any past punishments for Robertson’s driving did not discourage him, and the June 16 crash did not act as a “wake-up call” as it should have, according to Caponecchia. Instead, she said, he got behind the wheel again on June 18 after having consumed cannabis earlier that morning.
