Paul Pelosi Is Fine After Surviving A Life-Threatening Attack

Paul Pelosi made his first public appearance on Sunday after a month of surviving a life-threatening attack in his home in October.

Paul Pelosi, 82, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., who is still recovering from his fatal injuries to his head and hands when raided by an assailant, attended the John F. Kennedy Center Honors on Sunday.

He was wearing a hat and a single glove for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., to cover his injuries from the brutal attack at his home. Though still injured, Paul rose to his feet several times to applaud while attending the event that celebrates the performers who have made an indelible mark on the cultural landscape of America.

Different media reports reported that Pelosi seemed to be in good health on Sunday, laughing and talking with his fellow attendees during the reception of the event.

During the event, Kennedy Center Chairman David Rubenstein also gave a shoutout to the Pelosi couple’s presence with thunderous applause and a standing ovation.

David Rubenstein also appreciated the couple saying that he would like to single out one member of Congress who has been, for more than several decades, that had been really devoted to the Kennedy Center and her husband of 60 years who was there with as well — Nancy and Paul Pelosi.

Pelosi was attacked in the couple’s California home by an accused -42-year-old David DePape apparently searching for his wife Nancy Pelosi. Paul later had surgery for a skull fracture and injuries to his right hand.

Who is Paul Pelosi?

Paul Pelosi is a successful investor and developer in San Francisco. He has been married to Nancy Pelosi for more than 55 years.

He met Nancy in 1961 while attending Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service while Nancy was attending Trinity College nearby.

In 1963, Paul and Nancy married in Baltimore. Currently, the couple shares five children and nine grandchildren.

The couple’s children include Nancy, Christine, Jacqueline, Paul, and Alexandra. Alexandra is a journalist, documentary filmmaker, and also writer. Christine has been working as a strategist for the Democratic in California, and Paul Jr. is an investor who owns a company called Natural Blue Resources.

In a 2002 speech at Georgetown, she commented that she met her husband Paul at Georgetown while both of them were taking a summer school class at SFS called ‘The History of Africa, South of the Sahara,’ taught by the legendary Dr. Carroll Quigley.

Pelosi is the president of Financial Leasing Services, Inc. an investment consulting company. Through the consulting company, both he and his wife have a personal fortune of up to $200 million depending upon real state assets, stock investment, and other private investments.

Throughout his wife’s high-profile career rise through U.S. politics, Paul Pelosi has avoided joining her in the spotlight in most cases.

In a 2009 Associated Press story, he spoke about not wanting his business dealings to interfere with his wife’s political ambitions or show any perception that they could.

Paul also made clear in front of the press that he understood the curiosity about that. But the celebrity was his wife. It’s his wife’s career. So, it’s her responsibility. Paul would enormously be supportive and proud about it but he sees absolutely no percentage in trying to share the limelight.” He said.

He was also the owner of the now-bygone California Redwoods football team in 2009, which later became the Sacramento Mountain Lions, in the United Football League.

Paul Pelosi’s extensive stock ownership and trading also made him the millionaire he is now.

While Nancy Pelosi does not personally own or trade stocks, Paul Pelosi owns millions of dollars in stocks, including in companies such as Alphabet, Apple, Microsoft and Amazon.

Paul Pelosi is also listed as a founder, alongside his wife, of The Paul and Nancy Charitable Foundation, which is reported to have more than $1 million in revenue.

The Facts About Paul Pelosi Attack

The attack on Paul Pelosi has raised alarm about the threat of violence to elected officials and their families.

It has also become the focus of baseless conspiracy theories.

The suspect, David DePape that broke the glass door of the rear door of the couple’s house with his body and entered the residence at 2 a.m. in the morning. The sleeping Pelosi woke up with cautiousness from his bed. DePape started shouting at Pelosi asking about the whereabouts of Nancy in a threatening voice and stating wanting to have a “proper” talk with her.

When he learned she was not there and would not return for several days the man tried to tie Paul up until Nancy got home. When the police reached the crime scene, the attacker was waiting for Nancy.

At the beginning of the attack, Pelosi was able to call 911. He was able to keep his phone line open and the dispatcher could hear a conversation in the background which was recorded.

Pelosi was talking in code with law enforcement providing enough detail for the operator overhearing could understand that there was a problem. At the same time, he also tried not to make it obvious to the assaulter that there was a call connected.

When police arrived at the residence, they saw both Pelosi and DePape holding onto a single hammer.

The scrabble of Pelosi with DePape was captured on a police body camera as police came through the door to intervene.

While still outside the home, police saw DePape pull the hammer away from Pelosi and attack Pelosi. The police chief also said that Pelosi was struck by DePape at least once.

According to Police Chief Scott’s reporting about the incident, his team of officers immediately tackled the suspect, disarmed him, took him into custody, requested emergency backup and rendered medical aid.

During the conference of investigation, San Francisco Police Chief William Scott stated that the act was an intentional assault.

Authorities were still determining a motive in the attack, but they had already booked the suspect on felony charges without providing additional details.

San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins had tweeted that the authorities were coordinating closely with federal and local law enforcement partners on the investigation. She also mentioned that DePape will be held accountable for his heinous crimes.

Nancy Pelosi at the Time of Assault

For the midterm elections, Nancy Pelosi had been fundraising and campaigning with Democrats.

When the attack happened to Paul, she was in Washington resting.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi revealed that when she got the news from Capitol Police that her husband, Paul, had been attacked, she was very scared.

During the attack, she had been asleep in Washington, DC, after getting in the night before from San Francisco

Nancy also reflected on the fact that she was the intended target of the attack but her husband had to pay the price.

Who is David DePape?

42 years old David DePape lived in Richmond, California. He was only about 11 miles from Paul Pelosi’s home.

He used to live in the garage at a house on Shasta Street, California. When investigators entered his residence, they found two hammers, a sword along with a pair of rubber and cloth gloves.

There was also a voluminous blog written in DePape’s name and filled with hate writings, baseless claims, and pro-Trump posts.

His blog also featured the dangers of pedophilia, anti-white racism and “elite” control of the internet.

One of the blog posts suggested that there had been no mass gassing of prisoners at Auschwitz, and another was a video lecture defending Adolf Hitler.

Many of his posts were filled with hate against Jews, Black people, and the transgender community. Some also contained DePape’s delusional thoughts, about an invisible fairy that had attacked an acquaintance and sometimes appeared to DePape in the form of a bird.

DePape’s stepfather, Gene DePape, also said that DePape was distanced from his family before leaving Canada decades ago for California.

A woman who identified as DePape’s daughter named Inti Gonzalez said that she was stunned by his arrest even though he was abusive to other family members.

When asked why he didn’t run from the scene after he realized Mr. Pelosi had dialed 911, DePape compared himself to the founding fathers of the U.S. battling against the British. He stated that he was fighting against tyranny without no other option of surrender or moving back from the front line.
