2023: Nigeria may have 18 million ‘dead votes’ – Intersociety

The International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law (Intersociety) has issued a warning that there may be as many as 18 million “dead votes” cast during the general election in 2023, particularly for the election of the president.

At a press conference and media presentation on Christmas Day, a criminologist and board chairman of Intersociety, a non-governmental organisation named Emeka Umeagbalasi, made the revelation. The report in question was a 27-page Special Investigative Report On Nigeria’s INEC.

He claimed that the report’s primary purpose was to reveal several schemes to rig the upcoming presidential election using scientific evidence on February 25.

According to Umeagbalasi, the ineligible voters would include minors, foreign nationals, and people using forged or stolen identification documents.

He cautioned that the projected 18 million dead votes would swallow the planned 14 million votes if extraordinary actions were not taken to crush the purported horrific rigging plot.

According to the Intersociety’s head, 10 million PVC holders have already compromised their consciences and are incapable of voting for their preferred presidential candidate in 2023.

He said their research proved that millions of illegal voters were still on the rolls.

Umeagbalasi requested that INEC extend the deadline for PVC collection for eligible voters to the day before the elections.

He said those chanting “No election in Biafra Land” had been politicised and commercialised, and those spreading the phrase were trying to intimidate people into not voting their values.
