What To Know About Ayesha Curry’s Parents, Kids and Net Worth

The Curry family is one of the most famous basketball families in the world. This is largely thanks to the exploits of two-time NBA Most Valuable Player, Stephen Curry. The Golden State Warriors point guard has been able to achieve all he has in his career due to the support he receives at home from his wife, Ayesha Curry, who is also quite famous in her own right.

The Canadian is an actress, television personality, celebrity cook and cookbook author. She made her acting debut in 2008 when she appeared in television films like Love for Sale, Dan’s Detour of Life, and Whittaker Bay. In addition to her acting career, Ayesha also works as a host of cooking shows like The Great American Baking Show, Ayesha’s Homemade and Cooking with the Currys.

Ayesha Curry’s Life Before Fame

Ayesha was born Ayesha Disa Alexander in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on March 23, 1989. She is of Polish, African-American, Afro-Jamaican and Chinese Jamaican descent.

According to her educational records, she attended Weddington High School where she participated in the school’s drama program. Following her undeniable passion for acting, the young girl at the age of 12 landed a chance to feature in Sugar Prince’s video for the song, “Not Too Young To Love.”

Following the completion of high school, Ayesha Curry moved to Los Angeles in hopes of launching an acting career. She went on to make guest appearances in television films like Dan’s Detour of Life (2008), Love for Sale (2008), and Underground Street Flippers (2009). Other productions she appeared in include Hannah Montana, The Little Ghost, and Good Luck Charlie.

Achievements From Her Cooking Career

Ayesha Curry did not garner much fame and success from her acting career. Following her marriage to the basketball star, she decided to focus on something else that she loved doing, which was cooking. She was encouraged by her husband to start a blog where she would be able to start sharing cooking tips. She further launched a YouTube channel titled Little Lights of Mine where she uploaded videos of her special delicacies.

As time went by, Ayesha was able to land her very own television show on the Food Network. The show was first titled Ayesha’s Homemade before it was later changed to Ayesha’s Home Kitchen. In 2016, she collaborated with Chef Michael Mina to launch a pop-up restaurant in the Bay Area called The Mina Test Kitchen of International Smoke.

Additionally, Mrs. Curry was then named one of the hosts of the popular The Great American Baking Show. She has further made appearances on The Chew, Rachael Ray, and The Real.

How Much Is Ayesha Worth?

It is quite easy to assume that most of Ayesha’s worth is linked to her basketball playing husband. But looking a little deeper shows she is equally raking in the millions.

As a chef, celebrity cook, and cookbook author, most of her earnings come from this field. She owns a barbecue spot called International Smoke in Miami which was borne out of a joint venture between her and Chef Michael Mina. The duo further has branches in Houston and San Francisco.

Ayesha Curry, who became the spokesperson for the American Cosmetic brand CoverGirl in 2017, also runs a company called Little Lights of Mine which produces its own brand of extra virgin olive oil. The company gives 10% of its total proceeds from this to the No Kid Hungry charitable organization.

In partnership with PM Studios, Ayesha has her own customized mobile cooking game app which has further contributed to the increase in her earnings. She also makes money off royalties accruing to her from the books she has authored. She is the author of The Seasoned Life, a New York Times best-selling cookbook that was released in 2016.

All these endeavors have contributed to her net worth being estimated at $16 million. The net worth of her husband, on the other hand, stands at an estimated $130 million, which brings the collective net worth of the Curry family to an impressive $146 million. With this, it is no surprise to find out that the Curry’s were able to fork out $31 million to buy a new home in Atherton, California.

Meet Ayesha Curry’s Family

Ayesha Curry’s parents have been identified as John and Carol Alexander. She was raised alongside her four siblings; Chad, Maria, Janice, and Jaz. While it is not clear what her father did for a living, it is known that her mother operated a salon in the basement of the home.

Later on in life, Ayesha would meet and marry the son of retired NBA player Dell Curry, Stephen Curry. Stephen, who followed in the footsteps of his father, is noted today as one of the best shooters in NBA history. He was drafted by the Golden State Warriors in 2009 with the 7th overall pick. He has since been able to guide his team to three NBA championships as he himself has received two MVP awards.

Ayesha and Stephen are said to have first met in a church youth group in Charlotte when they were teenagers. They would later part ways as Ayesha moved to LA to pursue her career. Love, however, brought her back to Charlotte and after having spent many years together, the couple sealed their love with a nuptial bond on July 30, 2011.

The duo’s wedding was held in their hometown and it was attended by close friends as well as family members. The couple has since been blessed with three children; daughters Riley and Ryan who were born in 2012 and 2015 respectively, and a son named Canon who was welcomed to the world in 2018.
