Lila Smith, a 13-year-old Edmonton girl, reported missing for more than a week, was found safe and sound in Oregon, where Noah Madrano, 41, is being held by police and is being charged.
According to the Edmonton Police Service (EPS), the man got detained near Portland due to an international investigation. The girl was also reported to be transported to a children’s hospital out of caution.
The missing teen’s family was informed early on Saturday that she had been found in Oregon City, and her parents had already left to see her.

Laila Smith, an Edmonton teenager who had been missing for more than a week, had been located in Oregon on the morning of July 2, police reported on Sunday.
Her most recent discovery has been viral on the Reddit platform. The child disappeared on June 24 after catching the bus to her junior high school. Her parents learned she hadn’t gone to any lessons.
The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams, RCMP, Canada Border Services Agency, FBI, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, Oregon City Police, and Gladstone Police, according to Dahlseide, head of Edmonton’s significant crimes branch, aided the detectives.
Dahlseide claims that the EPS’ evidence led to upcoming child luring charges, and American law enforcement organizations anticipated additional charges.
According to the FBI field office in Portland, Noah Madrano is being detained on state charges brought by Oregon City Police, which verified this to CTV News.

In a Facebook post, the victim’s dad expressed his relief and gratitude for the community’s help and tips, which police estimate to have been in the hundreds.
As per Edmonton police, Noah and the teenager interacted on social media. They would not specify the platform but claimed that the web history data that detectives had found backed the claim of child enticement.

Noah Madrano of Oregon was charged with luring a child after discovering a missing Edmonton youngster in the United States.
Noah was arrested early on Saturday morning in Oregon City, a town 20 km away up the Willamette River from Portland, where he is currently being jailed on state charges, per a report from the FBI’s Portland field office.
As per police in Abbotsford, British Columbia, they got CCTV footage of the girl on Friday at a fast-food restaurant roughly 5 kilometers from the Sumas border crossing into Washington state at the demand of EPS.
The suspect has reportedly been in Mission, British Columbia, a town outside of Vancouver, for three to four days, as per the reports mentioned by Vancouver Sun.
The child and suspect had already escaped when Abbotsford police arrived, and it is still unknown how they succeeded in crossing the border.
