In 1983, Dr. Sally was selected for NASA oral history project and was set to go on a six-day mission to space. She later revealed that her personal flight kit became the subject of discussion among male rocket scientists before the mission.
She also disclosed how the male scientists were clueless about menstruation. NASA scientists asked Dr. Sally how many tampons she would need for six days trip and proposed if 100 tampons were enough.
She told them to cut the numbers in half and said they had never thought about the kind of things a female astronaut would carry with them.
Further, the male engineers tied the tampons together by their strings in a sausage link style.
Belsky created the song in April last year which instantly connected with thousands of women. After the song was released on Spotify in December 2020, these women took it to TikTok to create short videos.
TikTok celebrity, Christ Allen, created a TikTok video and lip-synced it to the sassy lyrics of the song. The video has gained 1.8 million likes and 18.4k comments.
