10 Nollywood Actresses Who Are Missing In Action

The Nollywood industry has had so many beautiful faces that are now missing on-screen.

Before the likes of Mercy Johnson and Ini Edo came into limelight, there were other beautiful divas who rocked the Nigerian movie industry in the 80s and 90s.

Liz Benson was one of them; after her last appearance in 2007, she went MIA for a while and then came back in 2014 when she featured in Stephanie Linus’ ‘Dry’. Seems like Liz has resumed duty cos she appeared in yet another movie Hilarious Hilary.

However, there are other Nollywood Actresses who went off camera and have been missing in action for too long. We would really love to see them grace our screens once again, as time must have made them better in the art like old wine. Here are they:

1. Grace Amah

The once petite Grace Amah started acting in her early years and is known for her innocent looks and playful roles. The Nollywood actress went missing in action a few years ago when she took a child-delivery break.

Since then, she has been sighted in only a few social events and has not taken any screen role. She is most likely busy taking care of her hot body as well as her beloved son and hasn’t given a second thought to going back to her first career love.

2. Regina Askia

Hazel eyed Akwa- Ibom actress, Regina Askia, is no doubt one of the most beautiful faces to have graced the Nigeria movie industry.

It doesn’t seem like the former Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) will be coming back to Nollywood anytime soon. She got married to her second husband and relocated to the USA where she lives happily working as a nurse. Although she is currently in the country with her lovely daughter, it is for another course.

3. Hilda Dokubo

Hilda Dokunbo started acting professionally in 1991 and was nicknamed Bakassi due to her enormous curves. She left Nollywood to coordinate a Non-Governmental-Organization (NGO) in Rivers State, which is targeted towards helping the youths of the state.

She was appointed to serve in the cabinet of former Governor Peter Odili in Rivers State and she did pretty well although it cost her second marriage, which is rumored to be under reconstruction. She resides in Port-Harcourt with her two sons Tuvi and Onome and is yet to speak about her come back into the Nollywood movie industry.

4. Victoria Inyama

Abia State indigene, Victoria Inyama, was known for her acting prowess and eloquent deliveries which gave her lots of acting roles back then.

She once had a bitter quarrel with Regina Askia which made headlines, after which she relocated to the UK, and got married. Currently, Victoria is said to be managing a catering business.

5. Sandra Achums

Sandra Achums used to be on the cover of most Nollywood movies. This “Love Without Language” star was once described as the darling of Nollywood but she is nowhere to be found in today’s Nollywood.

Sandra relocated to Germany with her four kids after a failed marriage and is now engaged in a private business.

6. Ndidi Obi

Popularly known as Nneka the Pretty Serpent, Ndidi Obi is a face Nigerians would love to see on TV again. After hitting the limelight with the aforementioned movie, Ndidi went ahead to make a name for herself which still stands even though she acts no more.

However, she came on-screen two years ago, saying:  “I am now back to Nigeria to continue doing what I know best, and that is acting.” With that, Ndidi announced her return to Nollywood during the 2012 AMAA in Lagos but we are yet to see her new works.

7. Shan George

Shan George used to be a popular actress, prolific writer, and producer with hit movies like ‘Made in Heaven,’ ‘Outcast,’ ‘General’s wife,’ and London Forever among others.

Shan was introduced to the movie world by her friend and still close associate Blessing Eremi in 1997 but abandoned acting years ago and has found love in singing.

8. Susan Patrick

Gapped tooth Susan came into the industry with a scintillating performance in a movie titled ‘Snake Girl’. She is one of the top Nollywood actresses that made it big in the early 90s.

However, Susan was not without controversy as she was alleged to have snatched another woman’s husband while studying at the Lagos State University (LASU). She is no longer active in the Nigerian film industry as she is now living quietly with her husband in Nigeria.

9. Dolly Unachukwu

Bold, Big and Beautiful Dolly Unachukwu cannot be left out of this list. The former Nollywood actress was known to carry herself with so much dignity that a weekly entertainment magazine referred to her as “Madam Nollywood.”

Needless to say that Dolly has since retired from Nollywood and relocated to the United Kingdom with her family, she is one person that her footprints will forever be in the sands of Nollywood.

10. Nkiru Sylvanus

Imo State born actress Nkiru Sylvanus is known for her crying roles and tearing eyes. She featured in ‘Egg of Life,’ ‘A Cry For Help,’ among other home videos that made her popular.

She once went MIA in Nollywood for some years when she delved into Imo state politics. But the good news is she won’t be missing in action anymore. The Nollywood superstar has honored the pleas of her numerous fans and is back into Nollywood, not just as a regular actress but a producer.
