Zhanae Conway Dodd is a Youth Parliament member of Rockhampton 2021.
She has fought for changes to the domestic and family abuse statute in Queensland. She claims domestic violence orders are imposed on youngsters as young as 13 in Rockhampton.
As of July 21, 385 individuals between the ages of 10 and 17 had current domestic and family violence (DFV) protection orders as a consequence of suspected violence against adults and other minors, according to the Queensland Police Service.
In September, Dodd will submit legislation prohibiting juvenile offenders from facing criminal charges for their first DVO violations in Brisbane.

Who Is Zhanae Dodd?
Zhanae Dodd is passionate about social justice problems, and as the new Rockhampton Youth Member, she has the power to effect genuine change.
Along with 92 other young people from around Queensland, aged 15 to 25,
Zhanae, who was chosen as the co-chair for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships Portfolio, is collaborating with other youth parliamentarians to make changes to the Justice Act and the Domestic and Family Violence Bill.
Dodd stated, “Our task is to draft an amendment to the bill, submit it to parliament, and then debate it there. We state how we want it modified. This year, I’m leading the refuting side. “In April, the Darumbal Community Youth Service project officer took the oath of office as a representative in the Queensland Youth Parliament. We have a sponsoring side and a refuting side.”
It is then forwarded to the appropriate ministers for consideration. According to Zhanae, this should bring about “realistic change in that space.” She noted that our retaliation rules were the product of bills that the Youth Parliament submitted to governments in the past.
